The Job Mentality

in #untagged5 years ago

Dear steem,
I wanted to share some of my thoughts in order to gain some clarity.
I hope you find some value in this.

I have had a job for ~ 1 week now.
Today is my fourth day.

This is the second day that I have woken up to feeling a LITERAL DREAD OF GOING TO WORK.
I have a negative emotional experience thinking about leaving to go to work for the next 8 hours.

IT HAS ONLY BEEN 4 DAYS

WHAT THE FUUUCCCKKK!?!???!

Does everyone experience this on a regular basis?
This is crazy to me.
WHAT THE FUUUCCCCKKKKK!??!?!?!

Lol, I really can't handle this.
I have committed to finishing the week. I want to at least "push" to the end of the week.
I feel like I dont have a lot of money right now and want to get the bigger pay check. I think that it will give me more freedom *ughhh... this might not be valid.

I don't want to do this long term.
I don't think I could do this long term.

Two interesting things
I bet a bunch of other people experience (and have been experiencing) this on a regular basis...

do you have your job? Lmk if comments

and ... if that is the case they must have really been suffering ... I feel for them

thank you for this experience

Next ...
if I want to stop this I am going to have to change something.
Dreading work is not an acceptable option.
Waiting for my senses to numb to the pain is NOT an acceptable option.

What are my whys?

The world has experienced a lot of pain and I want to help clean it up.
Ok lets do it.

I really want to be living somewhere with a humungous stack of wood, good access to a work shop, a humungous flat bed diesel that roars ... probably a motorcycle and some other things.

Does this have to be in Atlanta?
NO ...

Do I want it to be in Atlanta?
yes ...
for olive

what is it that I really want to be doing?
I would like to be climbing in some snow covered mountains

ahhh...
that picture of holly in the mountains ...
yeangsta!!

Maybe I should go back to the west coast ... the vibe there ....
the vibe :)

What is it that I really want to be doing??
I really want to be cutting wood, growing food, building dope shit

Would love to have income coming in from various sources

want to grow and sell food (yeanngssttaaa)

I want to build systems ... build things ... build assets that produce value
I want to turn my life into farm ville

How do I do it?
where do i do it??

I already have a few assets that produce value?
How can I make more?

How can I apply ^^ THAT ^^ philosophy to my current life?

Each physical asset that I build has legitimate transactional value

as a branded object they can produce value over the course of their lifetime

It will be harder to track (Not if i do a QR code)

Building systems.
I am building sales funnels.
Yes, sales funnel I am,
Yes.

Ok, what is a sales funnel?
Drive traffic
landing page
+1
conversion on sale
upsell

we are creating intentional experiences that we HOPE lead our users to an intentional goal

What is the goal of Atlanta Deck Co.
Goal = close on deck sale

working backwards
sign a contract
approve design
decide they want to work with us
analyze bid
meet w/ contractor
schedule appointment
find contractor

moving forward .

  • find contractor
they either find us or not. Facebook is the only traffic source like now. Ever green content will be king. REVIEWS REVIEWS REVIEWS REVIEWS
ACTION ITEMS [ get users on nextdoor to comment for us, get reviews, hire VA to connect w/ potential clients, influencer potential ]
    schedule apmt
we force our users through a calendly sheet. This gives us all necessary information plus a little bit of stuff that is not needed. Currently we are requiring a $125 down payment ... I don't think, without any explanation, that people will pay for this. 0/15 as of right now for conversions. Going to try w/out payment and see what happens.
    meet w/ contractor
this is the first in person touch point. I need to communicate well, seem competent and be personable. Our goal is to help the client figure out what they want and then help them get what they want. The focus of this meeting should be helping the client clarify what it is that they want and then make sure they have a really firm grasp of what it will take to accomplish their goal. We should essentially describe all of the aspects of a deck project and explain pricing model so that the user can understand the whole aspect. It would be best to get a close at this point (when possible)
Goal of this meeting is : sign contract + get down payment [secure slot on schedule]

NO DESIGN ???

What if ^^ that was the most I would ever invest in a client before they paid for anything. After this meeting we put them on a drip email list and let it auto populate ...

Really simple business model.
After the down payment we can finalize design and pew pew, get shit cracking

analyze bid
choose us
approve design
sign contract
make payment

leave the rest for the people on the side line.

Ok,
that seems to have just about done it.

For atlanta deck co I am going to focus on building traction.
I am going to continue scaling facebook posts, I am going to hire a virtual assistant to start interacting with potential customers, and I am going to build ever green content to build brand awareness.

I am going to focus on creating the most optimum "design consult" experience possible. I am going to close sales during this first meeting and will add users to a drip campaign from then on out.

No design work done before the sale is closed.

Meeting :
meet w/ home owner
discuss project
discovery (what do they want)
give homeowner business material
take necessary measurements and pictures (15 min)
go over deck build process
answer any questions for the homeowner

give price estimate
ask if they want to book their spot on the schedule.

You have no idea how much it helps me to read this because I've been feeling this way my whole life without understanding why.
I'm still in school now but ever since I was a kid I remember always saying to ppl how excited I was to be retired already... Sadly enough, many times in my life I have had suicidal thoughts and part of these thoughts were myself thinking of ending my life before entering into the workforce... All to say that I relate 200% to what you wrote in that post. I' ve never been able to hold on to a job for more than 8 months (even that was a miracle for me:P)

Maybe jobs aren't for you @steemityourway There are a bunch
BUNCH of different ways you can support yourself. Believe that you can find an Alternative that fits you and start looking. Something will arise

For sure!
I found my calling and will get the degree necessary to pursue it, but the fact is that the workforce does scare the fuck out of me regardless:P

Why don’t you move to a cheaper area? Where the cost of living is cheaper.

Ha I definitely have considered. I want to stay in Atlanta right now (work and for a woman) but I sometimes reminisce on my travels where I was spending $10 a day

Posted using Partiko Android

Is working for a woman different than working for a man?

lol no you misunderstood me :)
my reasons for staying are

  • work
  • a woman that I am dating
