Colors Of Autumn
Good evening everyone!
It´s the time of the year that we mostly see the colors red, orange, yellow and maroon in cold countries... it is Autumm again and getting chilly at nights. The temperatures fall down to below 15°C/59°F and we see people wearing jackets or coat to protect themselves from the cold temps. The streets are full of fallen leaves and trees started to get bare now. We´ve escaped cold Central Europe to go to a warmer place. In Spain, it is definitely warmer by around 10°C/50°F.
October is also harvest time for pumpkins and squash, so we see those lovely harvests being offered in the market even here in Andalusia. I see myself buying the Hokkaido squash and make these sweet veggie for soups or sweet pumpkin pie til its supply last. The fresh market as well as supermarkets are full of pumpkin/squash as Halloween is just around the corner.
Green Ivy And The Wild Vine & Co
I love to see the changing color of the wild vines...aren´t they lovely to see its fiery red orange colors cascading side by side with the green ivy?
Summer has faded when the rosehips turn red and the leaves of the wild roses start to fall down.I used to gather rosehips to make into tea... but the processing is tedious, so I opted to buy the ready made packs called Hagebutte tea.
One of my fave fruits is FIG and they are available around late September. There are plenty of them here in Andalusia as Spain supplies Europe with its fruits and vegetables. I love to see all the warmer colors, those that are so brilliantly shining red and all there is to it!
