Alas Langos ....On A Market Friday!

If you have been to Vienna, chances are you might have seen or have eaten Langos (pronounced Lang-gosh). It´s a hungarian flat bread made of flour, water and yeast that is deep -fried and eaten while still warm. A sauce is being spread throughout the fried dough that contains pressed garlic and is being salted before serving.

Yesterday on my Market Friday, I drove hubbz to the U Bahn 6 - Vienna´s Undergorund Train Station for his doctor´s appointment. The market dealers already set-up their Easter Market stalls and were already live at selling their goodies.

There were various goodies sold, even Spring plants were offered... you know the stuff they sell, more cookies, sweets as well as wurst (sausages), clothings and what have you.

At the beginning of the row of Stalls below.... had been the Langos stand, I knew I had to stop-by when I saw Langos being sold. I have not eaten Langos for so many years and once I saw this Stall, I just had to order one.

The Langos are being fried only when the customer gives an order, you can have it crispy or semi crispy and of course , the garlic sauce is spread allover. There are also varations nowadays and you can also have the stuffed type with cheese , sausages even with burgers as well as pizza type and of course the classic one.

It only takes about 2 minutes to cook. You can really enjoy it while it is hot. The dough has nothing special in it, it´s the combination of the dough with the garlic and salt that makes it very distinctive and incomparable to other food.

It is so delish and I will surely have reasons now to go to the train station to buy my fave Langos. So if you folks are planning to go visit my city, don´t forget to try it, they are available in the street stands that sell sausages!
