What the kingdom of God is, and what it is not
The following biblical passage shows us what first the kingdom of God is not, and then what it is: “For the kingdom of God is neither food nor drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17 ).

Remember that Jesus told us that we should not worry about material things, but about things that have to do with the kingdom of heaven. This passage from Romans clearly shows that the kingdom of heaven is not found in food, drink, or other material things in our lives.
If you want to see how far we've come in the habit of praying about what Jesus told us not to worry about, try to remember what was the main topic of his last ten prayers. If you are like most, you will immediately see that most of your prayers tend to be just a concern for those things that we should not worry about. Isn't that amazing?
Jesus urges us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. The passage in Romans that we saw states that the kingdom of heaven is justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. In other words, the secret of how to get an answer to prayer is not to pray to receive but to be. When I understood this matter, I made a total change in my prayer life.
