Capsule Hotel in Cebu!!!
I backpacked for 5 days in Cebu last October and I stayed in the very first and only capsule hotel there and had an incredible experience.

If you have been reading my posts, you already know that I am a dialysis patient and with it comes many limitations. However, I look at this limitations as motivation and still try to live my life the best way I can every single day. I still try to travel around the country for 3-5 days and be back for my dialysis sessions. With the little money I have, I try to enjoy these visits and make as many memories as possible. While I still can, I plan to do this trips to experience how beautiful life is, and along the way, find my life's purpose and more reasons to stay.
I was travelling on a budget and so I checked backpacking accommodations in cebu, from airbnb to dorms to bed and baths and everything that comes up in Google when I search for budget places in Cebu City. There was one thing that fascinated me in the results and that was Shejoje Poshtel Hostel, the first and only capsule hotel in Cebu City.
I checked their Facebook page and they had a promo then for the Halloween season. There was a discount on the room rates, free cookies and a bottle of water when you check-in. It sounded like a great deal because it would only cost me 588 pesos for a night, compared to checking in a low-end hotel for 1000 pesos. Other than that, it would be my first time to be in a capsule hotel. Capsule hotels are popular in Japan, and I had no idea we had it here in the Philippines, too.
I booked a reservation in their Facebook page and their manager answered me instantly. I went there 2 hours after and the cheerful caretaker had me all set right away with a PWD discount because I showed them my PWD ID. Only one capsule was available and it was on the top deck.
At night, I stayed in the receiving area and I enjoyed a chichat with other backpackers who booked there, mostly foreigners which were Europians and Southeast asians. Some local Pinoys were there, too, there were two girls from Manila. The manager came in and saw us and asked for a group picture for their Facebook page. We huddled like we were family and had a few poses for the group picture.
It was late when everyone retired to their capsules. I was left with the manager in the receiving area. She asked me why I was travelling. I told her I am a dialysis patient and I wanna travel and see places as much as I can while I can because I know soon enough my health will deteriorate. I have seen people on dialysis go blind and be on a wheelchair after a few years of being on dialysis and so this is my way to save up good memories to treasure if ever that times comes for me.
She was shocked to hear my story and I can see in her eyes the deep concern of why I was travelling alone. I assured her I was fine and that I only travel to places with hospitals and that I wear a medical bracelet and a medical ID and even my phone has a screensaver with medical alert if ever something happens to me.
As we were talking more about our lives, I told her I am in search of my life's purpose and she answered me with something I will always remember her for. She said, "you will know your purpose only when you live an unselfish life, live for others, that is your purpose." That moment was enlightening for me that I posted it as a status in Facebook and tagged the Hostel when I was about to sleep that night.
I only stayed one night in the hostel because I decided to check other backpacking places around the city. I stayed in one place per day, so I can have the most experience in all of them. I only stayed one night in Shejoje Poshtel Hostel but it was unforgettable. I met awesome individuals, from the manager, the caretaker and the other backpackers who were all nice to me, we shared good moments of laughter in that clean tiny hostel which felt like home despite it being so tiny for a crowd like us.
When it was time to go, I chatted with the caretaker and to my surprise I knew that only the manager and him are in charge of everything, yet the place was clean and it felt so secured. I was very impressed but I had nothing extra to give them as tip. What I left them was a bar of Snickers chocolate, someone gave it to me but I am not allowed to eat it because it's bad for us dialysis patients. He felt happy about it, saying it was his first time to get chocolates from a guest. We bid our goodbyes, I gave the caretaker a hug and promised I'd look for them in Facebook and make a good review because they have been nothing but exceptional. I hugged the manager and told her I will never forget her and her words of wisdom about life's purpose. This post is still a testament to the promise I made then. I even miss them, I wanna go back sometime.
If ever anyone from Shejoje Poshtel Hostel sees this post, I want them to realize how I am grateful for letting me experience one of the best hospitality service I have ever experienced in my lifetime. Thank you, and all the best to you always.
For fellow backpackers, this place is worth the visit. You may check them in Facebook, they are highly responsive with inquiries. Who knows, we might see each other there and enjoy their free cookies altogether!

so cute! I would like to try that if I will go to Cebu soon
Yep, you should! But only if you are not scared of being in small spaces coz you are literally going to sleep in a box kind of bed/room.
Another piece of awesome content @mermaidvampire. Keep it up!
