Forget pigs in blankets, you have to try these!
I know you've had pigs in a blanket (You haven't? What are you waiting for?!) and this recipe is similar, but with beef!
Basically, they're mini cheeseburgers wrapped in some form of dough. I used biscuit dough! I tried to make a cool name for these, but couldn't settle between " Cows in Quilts " and " Cows in Comforters ". And of course, there was a suggestion for " chopped moo in a sleeping bag " (Thanks, HellRaizer).
ANYWAYS, let me show you how!
So, grab a half lb to a lb of your favorite cheeseburger making beef. I used a lb and it fed 3 of us with a bit extra leftover.
Place your beef into a bowl, adding your favorite spices. I used garlic powder and Lowrey's seasoning salt.
Make small balls like you're making meatballs (but better!) and the flatten them, placing a few in your frying pan.
Like these!
Once you get all of your patties fried up, grab your biscuit dough! ( I have seen it done with pizza dough too) I used those refrigerated biscuits that you have to brace for the POP that always scares you,no matter how much you prepare yourself. I actually split the biscuits into two to get more out of them (and you really don't need a whole biscuit for one burger). Flatten the dough the best you can without tearing it. Place a slice of your favorite cheese, your burger and then another small slice of cheese, then wrapping the dough around the entire thing.
See?
I hope you preheated your oven, because I forgot to add that above. :P
I baked mine using the directions on the biscuit package, since the beef was already cooked. (Mine said 350 for 15 minutes)
YAY! They're done! I baked some onion rings to go with which paired awesomely!
Grab your favorite burger condiments and dip! I used a mix of ketchup and mustard.
Guys. These were SO GOOD. I got tons of compliments from the hubby and son. The biscuits kept the beef from drying out and the cheese all melty inside helped too. I really hope you try this and like it! Try adding mushrooms or bacon or whatever you like on your burgers too!
Enjoy!
