I, myself I'm a stammerer for years now. You feel unable to communicate what you feel many a time because you know you might stammer. You get scared of holding a leader's position because you are scared of stuttering in front of your subordinates. You get scared of going up on stage, everybody looking at you, getting all tensed up knowing there is high probability of you stammering. You've lost some good chances because you rather remain quiet than embarrass yourself.

I have been here and I completely know how you feel. Over the years I have studied and researched on how to cope with stuttering/stammering effectively and I have come up with my 5 ways of coping with stuttering/stammering effectively and there are;

1. Knowing its not bad to stammer: This is the first step to coping with stammering. It's not your fault that you are a stutter, so you shouldn't be ashamed when you stammer. Keeping this at the back of your mind, will help reduce your tension whenever you want to speak.

2. Don't feel the urge to cure stammering immediately: Yes, I understand, you want to speak fluently like everyone else but you are not everyone else, you are different, you are unique and that's what makes you special. When you start feeling the urge to cure it, it worsens.

3. Do not fear: Do not fear to stammer when you are speaking to anyone regardless the position of that person, don't be scared. Stammerers speak fluently whenever they are with people they feel comfortable with, reason been, they don't fear to stammer in front of them. So speak without the any fear of stammering.

4. Keep breathing while you speak: Do not hurry to talk so much that you won't even be able to stop for a breath. When you start stammering, just stop there, and take take a deep breath and start talking again. Practice this technique, it helps a lot. Stop, take a deep breath and start again.
