What's wrong with simple?
It seems to me that some people equate simple with lacking, with thoughts of scarcity. This is to say that in the mind of those who collect statuses and social ranks, those who don't play the game, are losers by default.
Says who? Why would someones personal truth be transferable like that, imposed by cultural universalities as absolute choices? I don't know, and honestly reject the who thing strictly out of principle.
There is nothing wrong with simple, with frugal, with less, as long as choice was exercised, and maybe that's what the criticism fails to see.
I mean, how many times have we heard a backhanded compliment that erodes our willingness to smile: "with your intelligence, or you talent, I would not waste my time like that" - Why is the word waste even part of the conversation? Waste of time for who?
I know my friends mean well, I know they do, and that is why I react with kindness, but I lack the ability to make them see, make them understand this new me.
It can be frustrating at times, because I'm talking to people who are still inside the system, and think my opinions have been corrupted by laziness and a demand of convenience.
The truth is that it would be easy to jump back into the corporate saddle, there is enough stripes on my uniform so to speak, but do I want to? Should I want to? For who? For what?
I crave one thing and one thing alone... Simple, and there is no way that doing more of the same will guide me to the change I've been searching for.

Simplicity seems like a positive thing to me. From my observations of the Human Species, it seems that those who overcomplexify everything and feel compelled to fill their every waking moment with "something' actually tend to be lacking something in spirit that they can never fill with things or activities.
=^..^=
Contentment is a term many today have never experienced. That’s ok, they have their own path perhaps. I like the fact that “you, do you”.

I say that all the time... You, do you! :)
The toughest part is taking that first stepnof really opening your eyes to what you need vs what you want. Taking the step to remained challenged to pursue your goal is the toughest step although remaining the path is as difficult given the external pressure to “fall back in line.”. Easy for me to say as I am still under that system but leaking outwards to the potential!

Paradoxically simple is often harder than complex. Our monkey minds crave input, stimulation, complexity, etc. We confuse ourselves with our monkey mind and naturally assume that we want those things as well, and therefore start to mock anything seem as simple.
Sorry. I used to give lectures on this stuff. Easy to fall back into the talks ;)
Good writing, buddy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
I. Love. Simple!
Interesting. I also love the simplicity of things. For me, true beauty is found in the simple things of life, which certainly has nothing to do with poverty.

Simple fact: The "new", the fancy, the sophisticated... yeah, the very cerebellum itself... Is but an add-on, an extension to a work-horse browser that is incredibly functional. An experiment, so incredibly sought after... but still: A bubble...
A thing is considered "simple' because it works so well that everyone takes it for granted.. Like gravity or grain...
How well do you think those folks would fare if ever gravity or grain just up and -STOPPED WORKING-?
Simple is Righteous. Simple is good... and in days to come, folks are going to learn that simple is Where It's At.
Glad to see that you're ahead of the curve. =)
There is an old saying,"Keep it simple, Stupid"
As always, there are two sides to every coin.
Depending on one's attitude simple can mean, air-headed, birdbrained, bonehead, brain-dead, half-witted, or possible even knuckleheaded.
Simple can also mean innocent or modest.
I think as a whole, if people were to live their lives in a more simple fashion they would find inner peace.
Everything is so complicated these days, from the dam channel changer for your T.V. too trying to make mechanical repairs on a newer vehicle.
Keeping one's life simple provides a life style that allows one to experience inner peace.
Homesteading is a sign that people are yearning for a simpler way of life, void of many of the mundane chores necessary to keep up with the pack.
I for one enjoy the simple side of life, and have also been questioned by friends about my lifestyle.
Questions like, don't you get bored living in the middle of the woods, what do you do for entertainment, how can you stand being so isolated, you live on what,a dirt road, and my all time favorite question is, what are you going to do with all of your free time.
My reply to this question is always the same. Whatever the hell I feel like doing.
Innocent and modest is the way I live now and I have never been happier.
