           KEY TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:12

Yesterday, we learnt from the Scriptures that only the fourth commandments contains a positive and negative commands and located at the very Centre of the ten commandments.

Who chose the day
Genesis 2:2; "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." The Prophet Isaiah puts it this way, "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:" Isaiah 58:13. Therefore the day was chosen by God himself just as the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Does the Sabbath day looks just like any other day?
Certainly yes. The physical nature of the Sabbath and other days are the same. Just as the sun wake up from the east on other days, so does the sabbath. Just as it rains on other days, so do it rain on the Sabbath day.
How many days belongs to God? Psalms 24:1; "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein."
All the days are God's.
But is there one day which belongs to God in a special sense? Revelation 1:10; "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,". Compare it to Isaiah 58:13 as already quoted.
Is the sabbath a test of faith in recognition of God as Creator and True God?
Exodus 20:11; "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."
A call to obey the sabbath commandment was for the world to recognize God as Creator of the world.
Ezekiel 20:20; "And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God."
Does Satan hate the sabbath?
Certainly yes. That's why in the Old testament times, he deceived the Jewish people into thinking that strict obedience to the sabbath will gain favor in the sight of God, therefore they propounded laws to govern the sabbath. Example; you are not suppose to help others who seriously need your help (Matthew 12:9-13) and other laws. But in our times, Satan has lead people to think you can worship on just any day so far as you are mentioning the name of God but that is a deception. Nadab and Abihu thought all firewood were the same in the sight of God, when God has specifically instructed they should not offer strange fire in the sight of Him. Through this they met their dismay by fire. In the end of days, those who disregard the laws of God including the sabbath which is a test in recognizing God as creator and true God will be destroyed also by fire (Revelation 19:20).
1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."
God bless you for having the time to read the insight from God.
