Creepy horror story
Whilst investigating the death of a local actor, a noble psychiatrist called Molly Humble uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, silver hawk circulating throughout Kent. As soon as anyone uses the hawk, he or she has exactly 80 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look pickled. A marked person feels like a skinny rat to touch.
Molly gets hold of the hawk, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a wide donkey balancing on a spotty actor, an old newspaper headline about a polo accident, a hooded koala ranting about hands and a drinking well located in a snooty place.
When Molly notices her warts have rat-like properties, she realises that the curse of the silver hawk is true and calls in her aunt, a fishmonger called Naomi Godfrey, to help.
Naomi examines the hawk and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the wide donkey balancing on a spotty actor particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Molly and Naomi pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded koala. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
