5 winter gardens that make us dream
1.A Victorian winter garden in London
From an imposing Victorian house, Rose Uniacke, decorator and antique dealer, has made a family home of spectacular proportions. Formerly an exhibit room for British artist James Rannie Swinton, the winter garden brick walls had been buried under layers of plaster. Once cleared and the canopy laid, landscaper Tom Stuart-Smith created a serene harmony in this timeless space.
2.An artist's winter garden in Mexico City
It is in the heart of a historic district of Mexico that the artist Pedro Reyes has imagined his house all concrete. In the center of the living room, a skylight painted bright yellow, a nod to the Mexican architect Luis Barragán, illuminates a bed of green plants.
3.A classy winter garden in Tuscany
The designer architect Vincenzo De Cotiis rehabilitated an old boathouse to make it a holiday home. Located in Forte dei Marmi, not far from Lucca, this house is full of mixtures of materials. In the large living room, a resting place in the winter garden spirit combines a vintage bench, a marble console, an XXL suspension and, of course, multiple green plants echoing the lush garden around.
4. A seventies winter garden in Paris
In an apartment built in 1970 Avenue Foch, the antique dealers Yves and Victor Gastou brought their furniture touch, sublimating the futuristic aesthetic of the time. In the lobby of the apartment, a very animal bronze sculpture of François Stahly (Galerie Yves and Victor Gastou) sits at the center of a parterre of philodendrons.
5.A winter garden (or rather summer) in Tangier
It is in Tangier that Bruno Frisoni, artistic director of the boot maker Roger Vivier, likes to come and relax in his typical Moroccan house. In the green patio, two AA chairs invite to bask in the sun.
