Loneliness- An Original Poem

Loneliness is catastrophic
It can haunt you in your dreams
Or it can torture you in your plain consciousness
It's like a wicked ghost
It creeps up on you and covers you whole
It suffocates you
It causes you to bite your nails with anxiety
Waiting for its next attack
It's sudden
It's spontaneous
It's deadly.

Loneliness can feel like permanent damage
It can convince you that you are unloved or unwanted
It has the power to initially ruin you
Ruin your mind or maybe even ruin your soul
It can describe you as putrid or disgusting
It can point out every flaw in you and say
"this is why you have no one"
Even if you know it isn't true.

Loneliness is excruciating
It burns a hole inside your chest
It melts the spirit in your heart
and the imagination in your mind
It chips slowly away at everything that has ever created you
It takes pleasure in your misery
It tortures you until eventually,
it feels like nothing is left.

That, is what loneliness is.
