My Creative Economy Idea
Downloaded from my Facebook page
The ravaging economy situation in my home country has really raised brows and concerns, prices of things are going up everyday without control. It is no longer a news that Nigeria is facing Hyper Inflation and this has really affected the inhabitants to the point the average Nigeria only think of Jakpa (Travel out).
As a concern of this, I and two of my friends had an idea of opening a food processing company that will bring food ingredients such as pepper, crayfish, garlic and onions at it grounded form while still maintaining the originality of these items preservatives excluded.
We all know how this economy is eating hard on people and bigger companies especially food companies are sipping from the little the masses have, the idea we had put to birth Pejjum Foods. We started as a small business struggling with capital but the dream kept us going. The main aim of this company was not to make excessive profit but also as a way of giving back to the community for trusting our brand.
The company started with just 12 rolls of grounded crayfish, and we started our first production phase on the 15/04/2022, it got bigger when we pumped more capital to into it, though the turn out at first was discouraging but then, our vision kept us going.
Currently, Pejjum Foods is registered under the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission, this was made easy because we got recognized by the State Governor and he decided to register our business for us as a form of empowering young entrepreneurs like us.
The company started in my one room apartment but currently, we have a mini factory for production courtesy one of my partner's parent who saw the initiative and was proud of us, so in appreciation, he gave us a mini factory for production. Also, the company that started with just 12 rolls of grounded crayfish have now metamorphosed to a big company that we produce upto 100 rolls in three days, a good one for us, sometimes, we even ship abroad to those in need of it.
All we do is to get the crayfish in bags from the fisher men, select them inorder to remove the chaffs and little sands, then grind them and packaged them then brand out name on it. When others are selling the ungrounded one at the rate of #100 naira/0.25 steem, we sell each packet of grounded crayfish at the rate of #50 naira/0.12 steem. The initiative was not for excessive earns like the giant companies, but to make sure an average person is able to afford it.
Our vision is to reach every corner of the world with our affordable products, support the needy with the little gain, if we can have the support of our government or partner with giant food processing companies, this will be achievable within some years, but if we do not have any support, we will keep pushing till our goal I met.
This company has not just help others but also, it has given me a sense of satisfaction of being able to stand out in my production, be resilient in the midst of factors that would've pulled us down.
I invite @emily08, @etette and @wirngo to participate in this contest if they are yet to do so.
I have set 10% beneficiary to @steemkindness
