The Kelpies in Scotland
It was the weekend, the weather looked promising so a family outing beckoned, but where to go? The good lady and I wracked our brains and together both realised that we hadn't been to see the magnificent Kelpies before. Despite only being a short drive from our native Glasgow.
So off we went. We were certainly not disappointed. Forty minutes later and they were looming over the car as we drove around the park they were situated in. Magnificent.

The Kelpies sculpted by Andy Scott
Standing some 30 metres high in scenic parkland they are a must for any visitors to Scotland. The sculptures were designed by Andy Scott and were opened to the public in April 2014 the visitor centre handily advised. We walked through the park and beside the canal to approach them and it was beautiful although the wind today did it's best to blow us away
Named after mythological beasts with the strength of ten horses they are built from stainless steel each of them weighing over the hundred tonnes!!
They were damned impressive and myself and the family found ourselves just staring at the sheer majesty of them. It's remarkable how life like they seem, rearing up above you. You can go inside them too which is weird but cool.
Of course, me ever being the joker did my best to get a comedy shot
Besides the splendid Kelpies themselves there are walks through the rugged but beautiful parkland the sculptures are situated in.
As you can see from the sign, plenty of cafes and treat stops too.
So all in all I would heartily recommend all visitors to Scotland to come and see our giant metal stallions!!

Wow! They do look impressive
