Celebrating National Family Week 2022
Hello Beautiful People of Steemit!
The last week of September was the National Family week Celebration. For a little background about this yearly celebration, in 1992, Fidel V. Ramos, then the President of the Philippines signed a law declaring the last week of September to be the Family Week. From then on, our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have joined the country in celebrating this event.
September 25 until Oct 1, our church had a week long celebration. Starting September 25, each day of the week, we have different activities with our families. This includes cooking and eating together as a family, doing family history and many more.
Took a photo while we were on our way to the event.
Then last Oct 1, the culmination of the event happened. Church members gathered in the Cebu City Temple complex for a fun and movie night with our families. We also wore our purple t-shirts with the print #BFF or Building Forever Families.
We had our photos taken before the start of the program.
The program started 6PM. There were presentations from selected families and also a video compilation of photos and videos of the events that transpired during the week. Of course, we submitted our video entry too! lol
Below is our entry:
Since it was a movie night, we were instructed to bring our mats and food to eat. We brought some chips, nuts and cookies. The children enjoyed the food we shared also with other families.
The movie we watched was Encanto by Disney. For sure you are familiar with it. If not, it is a movie about the familia Madrigal with special magical gifts. We've watched the movie before but watching it again on very wide screen was another experience. We enjoyed watching it again outdoors. The movie screen was set up at the basketball court.
Making wacky faces while the program was on going. lol
It was a successful event. We enjoyed the movie, the food and each others company. There were I guess more or less 500 people present that night.
Before we went home, we took a photo in front of the Cebu City Philippines Temple. As members of our church, we believe and know that Families are Forever. The ordinances inside the temple made this possible.
After the photo shoot, we headed home.
Thank you for reaching this far. Did you celebrate family week too? Let me know in the comments if you did.
Until next time!!
Love,
