Whats your story?

Just like any other day,today too has given us a good reason to smile not because we are alive but simply because we all have life..I just want to believe each and everyone of us here on steemit has a story to share in our own way..My life is a story,so is yours..Did you know a story shared could easily get someone motivated or inspired?.This is a short story of a lovely woman l once met......Enjoy it.

Her beginnings

Shes 25 old female from India and belong to lower class family,maybe a riffraff.Her mom and dad were uneducated.Her high school days compelled her to read lot of inspirational books/autobiographies which got her mind focus on her studies and secured 92% of an exam score. There was no tradition in her family to continue girl’s education after attaining 10th. However teachers at their school convinced her dad to help further her education. It was tough sale for her teachers.

Dorcas successfully did Diploma in IT and secured first rank (84% aggregate) in all semesters. After Diploma, she obviously had a descent opportunity in hand to work in small IT firm. However she wanted to finish her Bachelor Engineering degree. This time she was fortunately mature enough to convince her family of her made decision.

She took admission in Computer Science Engineering and able to start well in first year. The college was very distant from her village.She was compelled commuting 4 hours daily but never got disappointed and remained focused.Subsequently, the biggest problem emerged gradually then.Her dad passed away during her exams. "I remember attending one of the papers after the burial service",she told me. This was major setback for her and the entire family.They couldnt have any money to continue her education.
Dorcas then decided to quit engineering and made a quick detour to the bigger city in search for job so as to support her family. She certainly wont find any descent job doing in as much much she couldnt find for herself a better certificate.
The Situation was becoming worse everyday. Then first shade of hope came. Local community leader from the village she hailed got to know her story and decided to pay fees for the completion of her engineering program in the time being.

In her quest to top up her course, the college learnt this and waived off her complete fees for 2 years. Now again she started sharing smiles with her world on despite the prevailence of these major financial issues. Successfully, she graduated with distinction in Engineering.

Life maltreated her

Now her idea of working in the bigger city was still on course and so proceeded....Little did she know bad days were ahead of her,pointing to near....bad luck, Dorcas could not secure any job after series of interviews..Now to survive she started taking private coaching Classes. Somehow she was able to manage her monthly expenses. Borrowed some money from her uncle to do Training in Java and joined Training Institute. After the training, she found a job in very small company for Rs 5000/month. She the decided to continue until she gets decent job. With private classes paying another Rs 5000, now monthly income was Rs 10,000.Her mom was very much worried as she was staying away and so she was compelled to move her family into her apartment.

Somehow things were settling but another monster was waiting(Marriage). Because of poor family background and not having any connections, she was not getting any decent proposals. Extended family members started putting lot of pressure on her and her mom for my marriage. Dorcas wanted to marry a person at least similar educational background but was getting all third grade proposals. The last proposal was from a guy who was just 10th pass, working as labor and her extended family members wanted her to marry him. Their analogy was she can’t get better than him as she was earning very less. Somehow she escaped from this proposal. Then she spoke about 10th guy incident to a senior lady in her company. The lady felt very bad and asked her to open an account on Matrimony site.

She smiled again

Now the new life chapter began. In 10 days after opening account on matrimony, she surprisingly got marriage interest from a guy living in US. She barely knew something about US. She asked senior lady from her company who looked at US guy profile and convinced Dorcas to accept the request. The guy immediately contacted her on Facebook. He spoke to her once over phone from US and then they did chat on face book for 2 days. The guy then landed in India on Saturday evening and decided to meet her and the family on Monday. He came along with his mom. They met with Dorcas' families and liked each other. Her mom told his mom that we can’t even afford the cheapest ever cost of her marriage. But magic happened now. The guy and his family took care of entire marriage cost by themselves without any dowry. It was the best wedding arrangement happened in both her and her husband’s extended families. Within a month after marriage, Dorcas settled in United State.

The devil Never Wins

She got her work permit after 9 months entering in US.She brushed up her technical skills but it was difficult to find a job. Got an interview call from a big tech firm, Cleared a technical round but because of poor communication, flunk in managerial round. Then she became very serious and landed in decent job in 2 months. The pay rate was very low $20/hr initially but kept learning new skills everyday. After 9 months of study and hard-work, now shes getting $105 K/year salary in big Investment bank.Dorcas now greatly supports her family, taking care of her husband.
