Lara Croft:Relic Run - Android Game Review
Hello fellow steemian, hope you are having a wonderful time on steemit, my last game review was Crimsonland developed by 10tons ltd. Today game review will be Lara Croft:Relic Run developed by Square Enix ltd.
Lara Croft: Relic Run Game Story
According to the game there was a shadowy conspiracy that threatens world, only Lara croft is equipped to unearth the truth. Run, swing, drive and swan dive your way through beautiful and challenging environments, uncovering ancient relics to discover the truth and solve the mystery. Since there is no much time to waste, how long you can survive is what the game is all about.
Game Play
Lara Croft: Relic Run is more than just your average adventure runner. The developers have made an effort to include the big spectacle events and stunts that Lara is famous for which mixes up the formula in an exciting way. While on a run you’ll be swan diving cliffs, swinging with vines along a mountainside and escaping a T-Rex. Vehicles such as the fan favorite quad-bike can be found and ridden to gain ground quickly. And all these actions are on top of sprinting through a crumbling temple. There are also encounters with enemies on each run. You have to take them down with your weapons quickly, or your run could end prematurely with a spear in your back.
Lara Croft: Relic Run is similar to temple run, but offering something different, but still thesame running style sequence where you collects coins and duck or jump to keep running. Unlike the normal temple run which most people played and later get bored after a while and we later stop playing them. Lara Croft: Relic Run is all that and much more. It will keep you coming back for more. It’s got weapons, ATV’s and motorcycles and of course our dear Lara.
Lara Croft: Relic Run totally is the best of all runner games like Spider-Man Unlimited and Despicable Me: Minion Rush. Those games are great, but lara croft is still the best of all. But none of them have the character firing weapons at prehistoric lizard people or even battling a damn T-Rex! I have got to give credit to SQUARE ENIX Ltd for developing such an awesome game.
You will receive some to kick things off when you first download the game, but each additional one costs five diamonds and if you try and revive yourself more than once in the same session, the number of Ankhs required goes up. Should you run out of Ankhs, you can at least enjoy the wonderful ragdoll physics that contort Lara’s body in often comically unnatural ways as she crumbles to the floor.
With all that has been said, the game currently has two maps, with more to come soon. Its also got a wide range of items in the store such as diamonds, weapons, armour and health packs. Almost everything can be purchased with coins and upgrades are fairly easy to get. There is also something called ‘Resurrection Ankh’ which keeps Lara from dying and can be purchased with diamonds. Also, there are no other characters, but different outfits can be bought from the store so you can customize Lara to sooth your taste.
There is always something new any time I play the game. The variety of obstacles is absolutely crazy! This game is incredibly well made and you’ll find yourself running over obstacles, wall-running over pits, and riding a motorcycle or even an ATV! You may even ride a T-Rex at some point in the. There are also some boss fights and light combat. The game has you find and collect relics. Each relic requires some components to complete, all of which have to be found in one single run. If Lara dies, you have to start over again.
Gameplay wise, there are a number of staples; such as collecting coins and accumulating distance to improve your score. There are also diamonds which work alongside coins as in-game currency to buy items that help you avoid obstacles, find relics or fair better in combat and yes, of course you can spend real money in-app if you want to supercharge Lara’s wallet and thus the bag of tricks at her disposal.
And consumable items that you use on your run in order to stay alive, such as health packs and ammo for fighting off the increasing tough groups of enemies that impede your progress. Going back to the shop and upgrading Lara’s toolset in necessary if you want to find all the Relics in the the temple, as each relic is found deeper and deeper into the ruins. The Relics are the main point of progression, they give you story information as well as unlocking the next temple when you collect enough.
Thankfully the polygon count is notably higher than the console incarnations of old and whilst some textures or models might look a little simple compared to other mobile games, there are particle effects and other visual touches that help up the overall sense of quality.
However, on occasion you’ll be thrown the occasional curve ball, such as needing to wall run across a drop or vault over a fallen pillar and at one point we even found ourselves traversing the level on quad bike, one that we eventually had to ditch in a ravine, sadly.
The game also switches things up with moments of combat where you can shoot out explosive barrels, crates with money or health inside and of course the enemies, as well as the projectiles they throw at you.
Everything is signposted through deliberate camera movements or obvious landmarks in your path, however sometimes we found ourselves tripping up as a result of lag (the occasional dropped frame), an unresponsive swipe here and there, and when facing off against the first boss (the aforementioned dinosaur who features on the game’s cover art and splash screen), attacks with no obvious means of avoidance.
It’s a steeper learning curve than Temple Run, but the additional variety significantly helps with how replayable the game can be. Should you falter by running into a wall or sliding down a hole, you can revive Lara with the help of an Ankh.
This is arguably one of the more compelling takes on the auto-runner sub-genre of mobile games; the staple three lanes, multiple routes and power-ups are there, but the addition of gunplay, dinosaurs and acrobatics adds an extra layer of fun on top.
Controls
The controls feel great, easy to play with one hand for on the go Swiping in the cardinal directions moves Lara and initiates jumping, wall running and sliding when needed. Shooting is done by tapping the enemies on your screen, with the ability to reload and change weapons assigned to two on screen buttons. The game is simple to play but as the level progresses the acrobatics required to navigate and accuracy needed against the enemies are make it more difficult to continue. Thats where the games upgrades come in. The running experience itself benefits from a great amount of variety within each level (there are currently two stages, with more promised soon). The Cambodian junglescape has you sprinting between trees and temples, and there are familiar controls to scale over or slide under obstacles too.
Graphics
The graphics of Lara Croft: Relic Run are beautiful, creating a world of lush jungles and harsh desert, with beautifully detailed ruins to run through. The music in the game is also a great callback to the soundtrack of Tomb Raider games past. The overall feel is that of a classic Tomb Raider adventure and has been translated perfectly to mobile. The gameplay loop that is quick and satisfying – perfect for the platform – but without compromising on the high bar of quality that defines a Lara Croft game. This is a great game for any fans of the Lara Croft or anybody just looking for a fun mobile game to get their teeth into. Lara Croft: Relic Run has managed to get everything right.
Lara Croft: Relic Run has surely given new meaning to its genre of games. A challenging runner game which shows a lot of promise. Enhancing the gameplay and variety to another level, giving new legs to the endless running spectacle.

Lara Croft, this very name will remind anybody of Angelina Jolie as the adventurous treasure hunter. And that’s what this game is about. If you like to spend hours on endless running games and still come back for more then Lara Croft: Relic Run is the game to have on your device.
