Russia developed space gun
It turned out that Russia had developed a space pistol for cosmonauts to use.
It was announced many years after Russia designed a laser gun that could be used in space during the Soviet Union (USSR). However, it was also stated that this weapon, designed during the Cold War period, was never brought into outer space.
According to the Russian media, the 'laser gun' was designed as an individual defence weapon for cosmonauts. It neutralizes weapons, sensors and optical devices with no lethal effect. This weapon can be used against devices, not against another astronaut or cosmonaut.
