Today I'm going to share some photos and thoughts about my newest watercolor project that is currently on my easle.

Gansai Tambi watercolors on Hahnemuhle bamboo paper, size 15 x 30 cm.
This watercolor I've been working on for three days, which is longer than I've worked on any watercolor before, hehe.
I'm quite used to working on my oil paintings for days and even weeks and months, but watercolors have always been quicker projects that I've spent a couple of sessions on at the most.
This little project how ever is redifining my watercolor journey and I'm loving it!
I think a big part of why is that I've chosen to experiment with the light source in this particular painting as well.
I've never painted a painting with backlight and so I'm going at this in a slower pase, doing a lot of analyzing and thinking before and as I'm putting down the paint.
Here is the painting  after each session  so far and some close ups;

I am imagening that this painting will be finished after a couple more sessions, maybe sooner, but I don't think so..
I still feel I can do a lot more work on the chair and tha backgrond as well as certain parts of the figure.
One thing which I'm loving working on this painting is the fact that there is no strong lightform and shadowform. This means that I have to work a lot more with lines to describe the form. Even thou linework is something I'm always mindful of this kind of brings it to the next level! Superfun!
Hope you enjoyed seeing my new project and let me know if you have any thoughts on painting, watercolor or art in general!
Have a lovely day guys!

All i can say is this is an awesome piece of art.. thanks for the pictures
and it should be protected properly...
Thank you so much @lahcen80! :D That is so sweet of you to say, and It will ;)
Superb watercolor! Beautiful tones of color, you must have a lot of patience for painting this :)
Thank you very much @marty-art! :D It was for sure a new experience to spend this long on a watercolor and I might still spend a couple more sessions, but I loved it! :) I changed my approach quite a lot and I think that helped me.. :) Thank you for your comment! :)
My pleasure, looking forward to see the finished painting!
Beautiful painting, very well executed. Your time was well spent on this experiment.
Thank you so much @mitchhunter! :)
Few days is not that much. I once wanted to experiment in sculpting scales and i ended sculpting dragon for 9 months
9 months! :D I would like to see that sculpture! :D I've worked on large scale oilpaintings for a few months before, but I've never sticked with anything for that long! Bravo!
Oh nice! I like seeing the progression you respect the abilities of the artist much more. Thanks for sharing!
Well, thank you very much @solodadlikeaboss! :D Happy you like it!
Beautiful, you have captured the skin tones very well.
Thank you very much @opheliafu! :D Capturing the skintones was something I found really hard in this one, seeing as almost the entire figure is in shadow.. Glad you like them! :)
Gorgeous! I really liked how well you captured the light in this piece!
Thank you @justaboutart! :D It's all about the light in this one for me. :) Happy you like it! :D
