Das Berlin nicht immer sauber ist, hat sich wahrscheinlich schon weit herumgesprochen und ist nun fürwahr kein Geheimnis mehr. Ganz im Gegenteil, bei einem Ausflug in die Berliner Innenstadt wird man schnell und überall daran erinnert, wo man hier denn gerade ist. Nun ja, das Problem auf die modernen Zeiten und ihre Protagonisten zu schieben hilft auch nichts, denn auch früher war es bereits ziemlich schmuddelig in der Deutschen Hauptstadt. Aber vielleicht waren die Zeiten irgendwie wärmer und kuscheliger, so dass einem der ganze Dreck nicht aufgefallen ist.

Aber wie auch immer, man kommt daran nicht vorbei und wenn man dann so wie ich ein eher seltener Besucher in der Stadt ist, überraschen einen diesbezügliche Anblicke dann doch immer wieder. Obwohl auch mir bewusst ist, dass zu Berlin nicht nur Currywurst und Reichtstag, sondern auch Taubendreck und Hundescheiße gehören. Und wem die Hinterlassenschaften der Tierwelt nicht reichen, der darf sich auch noch an denen seiner Mitmenschen ergötzen, welche meist noch abstoßender sein können.

Wohl dem, der sich selber gekonnt und behende durch die Stadt manövriert und dabei all den vielen vielen kleinen fiesen Fallen ausweichen kann. So leicht ist das meist gar nicht, auch wenn der weg vor einem anfangs ziemlich sicher uns sauber vorkommen mag. Aber plötzlich fängt es an zu riechen und der Boden vor einem ist voller Scherben, und anderer manchmal undefinierbarer Gegenstände. Oh ja, die Stadt kann berauschen und begeistern, aber dabei zeigt sie einem gleichzeitig auch den Mittelfinger. Nicht jeder ist dafür gemacht, und Berlin zeigt einem das sehr deutlich. Glücklich sind dabei die, die sich hier in der Mitte der Stadt nur temporär aufhalten und deshalb das ganze vielleicht mit etwas Abstand sehen können.

Word has probably gotten around that Berlin is not always clean and this is no longer a secret. On the contrary, a trip to Berlin's city center is a quick and constant reminder of just where you are. Well, blaming the problem on modern times and their protagonists doesn't help either, because in earlier times it used to be pretty grubby in the German capital too. But maybe those times were somehow warmer and cozier, so you didn't notice all the filth around you.

But either way, you can't avoid it and if you're an infrequent visitor to the city like me, you're always surprised by the sight of it. Although I am also aware that Berlin is not just about currywurst and Reichtstag, but also pigeon droppings and dog shit. And if the legacies of the animal world are not enough for you, you can also enjoy those of your fellow human beings, which can usually be even more repulsive.

Blessed are those who can maneuver through the city with skill and agility, avoiding all the many nasty little traps along the way. It's usually not that easy, even if the road ahead seems pretty safe and clean at first. But suddenly it starts to smell and the ground in front of you is full of broken glass and other sometimes indefinable objects. Oh yes, the city can intoxicate and excite, but at the same time it also shows you the middle finger. Not everyone is cut out for it, and Berlin shows this very clearly. Lucky are those who are only staying here in the center of the city temporarily and can therefore perhaps see the whole thing with a little distance.

Es wird den meisten wohl eher schwerfallen, aber im Anblick von Chaos und Müll bleibt einem oft gar nichts anderes übrig. Es mag zwar nichts geben, wo man sich in diesem Augenblick gerne hinsetzten will, aber trotzdem empfielt es sich dann einfach mal durchzuschnaufen und zu relaxe. Das diesbezügliche Motto hat jemand zwar gleich dreimal an diesem Brückenpfeiler hinterlassen, aber besser wäre es gewesen, es ganz groß zu schreiben, so dass es niemand übersehen kann:

"Chill mal Berlin!"

Most people will probably find it difficult, but in the face of chaos and garbage, you often have no other choice. There may not be anywhere you want to sit down at that moment, but it's still a good idea to just take a breather and relax. Someone has left the relevant motto on this bridge pillar three times, but it would have been even better to write it in very large letters so that nobody can miss it:
