Holy place in Bulgaria - Rila Monastery.
Hey. My name is Olga. I want to introduce you to the main holy place in Bulgaria - the Rila Monastery.
There is a monastery in the Rila Mountains, 120 km. from the Bulgarian capital - Sofia.The history of the monastery begins from the 10th century. Its founder is Saint John of Rylsky.
The monastery survived many tests: an earthquake, a strong fire, it was plundered by Turkey. But the Bulgarians always restored it.
In the Rila Monastery are stored several holy things - the relics of St. John and the miraculous icon of the Holy Mother of God.
Rila Monastery is famous for its wall murals. From all countries tourists go to see this wonderful and beautiful monastery.
30 years ago the Rila Monastery was recognized as the World Heritage by UNESCO.
For tourists there are always hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops.
We all received a great impression and admiration from the Rila Monastery.
