Mini Motivation #47 - Are you just conveniently hiding by behind your morals?
Don't lie and speak the truth.
Keep the peace. Keep the harmony.
Always help those in need.
Boy, aren't those good set of morals? But have you ever ask if those moral codes are situational or societal in its origins? Was it something you picked up at home when you're young? Was it something convinient just because everyone is doing it?
Fundamentally, moral values are just a set of beliefs we have internally, aligned with our internal values. Which is why you would resonate with some moral "rules" better than others. As a matter of fact, you may even question the others!
Now, what if your moral code is stopping you from doing what's right?
What if by telling the truth, you and your colleagues will get fired?
What if by keeping the peace, you're ignoring the growing problem?
What if you're helping those perceived to be in need, but in fact, they could be using that as a privilege to freeload of the goodwill of others?
Sometimes you have to lie for the truth to emerge.
Sometimes you have to take lives to save more.
Sometimes you have to refrain from helping, so their survival instinct will force them into states of resourcefulness.
My Master always said,
Principles are man made. Confuse them not with universal truth. Use your wisdom, doubt your beliefs, and do what's right.
So, what's the real origin of your moral values?
Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.
From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.
Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.
Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?
Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD7, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:
- Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
- Upvote (like) other people contents
- Comment on other people's posts
- Have discussions, share opinions etc!
Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!
The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!
Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

So-called morals stop us from doing wonders.
Yup. Morals can sometimes keep us grounded, but at the same time, stop us from testing our limits.
A motivation momentum is what I need each day. A sincere and humble comment in reply to show my gratitude to you. Thanks @maverickfoo!
