Mini Motivation #20 - This is your weekend
So you can argue that the weekdays are for work, for livelihood. It may not be a job you enjoyed, but hey, someone gotta put food on the table, right?
That's why the weekend is yours, unless of course you plan to work over weekends too, hey, that's your choice.
But instead of the usual sleeping in, or spending time at the mall, or slouching in front of the TV, something you've done before for the past weekends of your life, why not do something different?
I mean, you already know what those activities could give you anyway. You already know that 1 + 1 is 2, so why not surprise yourself and create a memorable weekend for yourself instead? One that you'd be using as a benchmark for the following weekend.
Not sure what to do? Here are a few suggestions:
Creativity - draw, paint, join an art class, write poetry, doodle!
Growth - read a book, pick up a course, watch a series of TED talks and reflect on it
Connection - talk to that long lost aunty, or that old neighbour next door, or just go on a date with your spouse, just the two of you (dump the kids somewhere if you have them)
Nature - submerge yourself in the ocean, hike through the forrest, watch the sunset, look at raindrops
Giving Back - help out at the centre n your area, give yourself to a higher power, teach underprivileged kids
And if you do that, I don't have to wish you the usual, boring, "Have an awesome weekend", because I know you're already getting one. :)
Mini Motivation is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.
From Motivation, we gain Inspiration. From Inspiration, we achieve Momentum. And the rest, they say, is history.
Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.
Oh it did? Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)
Stay awesome!
Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?
Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, Steemit is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD7, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:
- Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
- Upvote (like) other people contents
- Comment on other people's posts
- Have discussions, share opinions etc!
Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!
The only difference? For once you can earn a nice income on the side!
Sign up for a free Steemit account, and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome

I agree! However, sometimes, we need just relax- going to spa or something else, just to recharge
Yes. Recharge time is crucial too, so you'll have more energy to go at it when the week starts :)
For me, weekends are about having two days that are (usually) work free. I normally spend them hiking, socializing, dancing, cooking, cleaning, playing instruments, and exercising, but sometimes I need a weekend of nothing to recharge.... All in balance....
Good focus there. For me, even my hobbies eventually turn into work, but then because I like those work, it because something else entirely. Something fun. :)
Yes. When playing instruments turns into performing, it becomes work. In the end, I we are just not meant to do the same task 40 hours per week every week. Most people are fine working more than that, but only if the tasks are very different.
Super agree!
We will definitely be offloading the Little One to Grandparents and the other half and I will spend tomorrow dating. You don't have to convince us to do that - looking forward to it all week :)
Enjoy yourselves!
Absolutely spot on
@maverickfoo, that's an eye opener. Seems like I would need to relook my weekend plan again.
Great suggestion @maverickfoo! Doing something new over the weekend definitely will not fall into doing the same boring things again and again. I always avoid working during my weekend as much as possible unless really urgent. As I want to spend quality time with my family / loved one or do something useful for me like writing on Steemit / reading / watching TED talk.
