As you all know, in biology the highly organized structures made up of DNA and proteins are called chromosomes, which contain most of the genetic information of a living being. When a cell divides, the chromosomes are duplicated and distributed between the two daughter cells, which ensures that each daughter cell has a complete copy of the genetic information of the parent cell.

What makes this new artificial chromosome so special is, on the one hand, its relatively small size, with only 750,000 base pairs, making it the smallest human chromosome, and it has already been shown to function as a normal chromosome within human cells, replicating and segregating during cell division.
