What a great opportunity, missed!

Almost all of us have stories of misused opportunities to tell. Some will even wish they could turn back the hands of time, say like twenty years.

Opportunities come but once

Today, I was with a friend who was lamenting of missed opportunities early in his life. This is a man who got banking job when it was very lucrative and became rich at a tender age. He was not married, his parents were okay, so no dependant or serious responsibilities. The only person he had to take care of was himself. He didn't know what to do with the money, he confessed of sleeping in hotel rooms at times after collecting the salary.

Fast forward to today, luckily for him, his job is still intact but could've achieved great things, if he has used those opportunities given on a platter of gold. For example, he showed me two plots of land the owner was begging him to buy at a very ridiculous price but refused. Now the value of the land has skyrocketed. He can't afford it.

Then I looked into my life too, there were several abused opportunities that could've changed my life for good. There was a time my pay was so much I didn't know what to do with it. Every blessed day, I'll get some snacks, drinks and even other food for my consumption from a fast food joint.

Now I know better!

I think the best way to learn and acquire life experiences should be from other people who have witnessed such circumstances, especially the hard ones. With that one'll commit few errors and set goals will be achieved faster, all things being equal.

What is that opportunity you have now that you're taking for granted? Do you earn good pay and squander it? Are you the best in the class and you're now relaxing on reading your books? Do you have a good partner you're taking for granted? Are you in a relationship you don't cherish? Do you have your loved ones around but don't give them the time they deserve?
There are so many opportunities in this world we might not take note of, taking them for granted. Another problem might even be to identify them, one needs to be very observant. One needs to be very careful here!

Well, as missing great opportunities is a serious issue, so is letting it defining our lives. We've either missed, missing or about to miss great opportunities that can define our lives.

Then what to do?

If we've missed one or more opportunities, the best is to cherish every one we see now. Love unconditionally, appreciate those loved ones, spend that money wisely, forget the past, spend quality time with your spouse, children and entire family.

Congratulations to those that have been living their lives to the fullest, spending good times with their loved ones, spending their resources judiciously and living everyday like it's their last. There's still more to be done.

The reward of hard work is more work

Have you seen those with terminal disease at the last stage, say cancer? (No pun intended). They're advised to make every second count and memorable and wouldn't take any opportunity for granted. Getting the best out of every situation is very paramount for them.

Giving to humanity is really an opportunity some of have taken by the horn. Humans sees situations differently. It's all about being observant, which gives the room for being getting the best out of all situations.
