Do we really Care? || Tribute or Dishonour

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Something happened some weeks back. I was in the motor park trying to get a cab to my destination. To my surprise, there was none, few available said they were not going. I was a little disturbed, asked around, what could be wrong. Then i head, that one of them died a day before.

I was a little disappointed, what? So we are all going to trek to our destinations because someone died.

Another one happened again yesterday, the incident inspired my former post, i titled "love now,.not later" ..you can read it here https://steemit.com/life/@mattyabo/life-is-short-love-now-not-later When a former senior colleague died and it was announced that nobody should open their office today , to honour her. I'm totally not in support of this, because of the approach.

I think there should a better way of showing respect to the dead than just abandoning our work. I doubt they'll want us to do that for them. My opinion though.

After the star actor Paul Walker, bryan in the action packed series "the fast &the furious" was buried, the intimate ceremony followed a huge public memorial the previous weekend. Thousands gathered to lay gifts and take part in a motor procession in Santa Clarita, where Paul and Roger (the driver) died.

Fans revved their engines in honour at the social media-organised event, which was also attended by friends of the star.

Even my ringtone when my dad died.."See you again" by Whiz Khalifa and Chalie puth was in tribute to Paul.

Another is the passing of the great Stephen Hawking, many paid tributes to him using different means, did UK declare a public holiday?

From my point of view, it's totally wrong to stop people from coming to do their daily responsibilities, because most of the time, it's either they're forced or persuaded to abandon their means of livelihood for a day or two. Let iyaloja or babaloja( woman or man leader in the market die), confirm what i'm talking about, if you're doubting me.

For me, with all due respect, the dead is gone, the most important should be, how those things that were precious to him or her will be properly taken care of.

How? Instead of forcing people to leave their daily activities, maybe some percentages of the proceeds of the day can go to the family the person is leaving behind, maybe some scholarships can be arranged for some of the kids, if the wife was jobless, why not equip her to be able to take care of the family? They can even gather and form a foundation in his or her honour. So many ways to honour or pay tributes to the dead that i can't even remember now.

Mind you, some of the persuaded or forced persons too might have urgent need of some cash or the likes to take care of the family or other personal matters, they'll be hindered to achieve that. So what are now doing? Respect or disrespect for the dead? I'm kinda confused here.

Imagine, few of those people involved might've known the dead to have been sick for a while now. They can't gather to take care of him or her but can declare some impromptu holiday for others, contunu....in someone's voice.

I might be speaking your mind or not, the most important thing is we need to take care of the living rather than showing off to people that we care when it is already late.

Its true some people do more for the dead than the living which is wrong but i see it appriopriate to pay some respect to the dead as well

I'm really not against this, it's just annoying the way we go about it. What will compulsory holiday add to the family of the dead. Why not support them maybe financially or otherwise. Thanks for your comment. It means a lot, having someone reading your work. Gracias sis

Hmm, i think i agree with you. Its not so good for people abandoning their social duty because of the dead. Is nice paying respect anyway

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. It means the world to me

You have Spoken Brilliantly Well. You deserve a Commendation . I Appreciate Your Post. It makes Sense
