Home grown chili peppers and hot sauce in New England!!!

in #hotsauce7 years ago

Have you ever gone into to the supermarket wanting to buy a pound or two of fresh hot chili peppers only to find them spotted with mold/rot and soggy, not to mention at a heaping price of $7.99/lb. Well, try growing your own this summer,it's healthier, cheaper, and you'll enjoy dicing a few up and throwing them into a frying pan along with some eggs, mushrooms, garlic, and onions. I bought 3 plants ($3.65/plant) from Walmart's garden center that were about 8 inches high, tilled the soil, added some "Expert Gardener" plant food, watered them twice a day for the first month, and then off they went. Between all 3 plants I produced approximately 10-13(lbs) of pepper well into late October. 95% of them were mold free and they were very hot, from a scale of 1-10, I would say 7. I also made my own homemade hot sauce from the same peppers, if you want the recipe for that just message me. Thanks for reading folks!IMG_20161104_141841.jpgIMG_20161104_135140.jpgIMG_20161104_135159.jpg

don't burn yourself with it ^^

I know right,it's already happened,LOL!!! However, if that happens, milk/yogurt are great bases to neutralize the acidic burning effect.
