BlockCharity

This is my first post on Steemit so please take it easy on me.
I am a Cybersecurity Engineer from Australia and have been interested in Crypto for about 3 months now.

After the seemingly constant media FUD over the past two months, I had an idea which I believe could help to promote the cryptocurrency industry and blockchain technology in general, while also replacing the incumbent and inefficient charitable organisations.

My idea is to create a blockchain based charity called BlockCharity.

The concept is simple and may already be in development, however I would still like to receive any feedback or assistance in turning this idea into reality.

BlockCharity would be a smart-contract based charitable organisation, likely in the form of an ERC20 / NEP5 based token, which would provide transparency and immutability into charitable donations and the distribution of the funds received.

A small portion of these funds would be dedicated to:

• Promoting cryptocurrency and blockchain
• Publishing articles and advertisments on mainstream media
• Funding lobbyists to represent the interests of cryptocurrency projects, developers and investors
• Assisting businesses with integating cryptocurrency payment solutions

The token would exist in order to provide liquidity to geographically disparate locations.

Ideally there would be an open governance and voting mechanism. Any community member could submit potential recipients for the funds donated (flood victims, refugees etc). Voting would occur every quarter and the recipient with the most votes would receive the funds received that quarter.

Managerial overhead would be largely negated and there would be no Executives receiving massive salaries or bonuses.

A (purely conceptual) breakdown of distribution would be:
85% - Recipients of charity donations
5% - Advertising BlockCharity
5% - Growing the community and funding development
5% - Promoting blockchain technology, funding advertisement and lobbying government.

Donations could be made in small increments $1 at a time rather than having to sign up for $20/month direct debit agreements and contributors would know that their donations could not be misused.

Potentially agreements could be made with cryptocurrency exchanges, payment processors like PayPal / Visa and other platforms like eBay and Alibaba.

Users could opt at checkout to pay an extra dollar knowing that it will actually be used in order to make a difference.
