Uber is Anarchy
I just finished my second day driving for Uber. I haven't made a killing yet, I have made a couple of mistakes that cost me money. But, I have enjoyed my time out there so far. I know that just like anything, you do the work and learn from your mistakes and everything will fall into place.

One mistake I made was tonight, I dropped some football players from Coastal Carolina University at the Hard Rock Cafe in Myrtle Beach. After the trip, I got a coffee at McDonald's. While I was throwing some trash away, my notification beeper on my phone went off and I touched the wrong thing I think. Still not sure exactly what I did, but it canceled the ride. Sh>[!, I yelled. Can't really learn from a mistake if you don't know what you did wrong.
All in all it was a good night. I made about $85 in 6 and a half hours. Better than a fast food job. But that's not what I want to talk about.
Almost everyone who gets in my car asks me if I like it so far. I have to say that I do. I drove a taxi for about 9 years and driving Uber is a lot better for many reasons.
I don't have to make a lot of money before I get paid. When I drove a cab, I had to make $675 a week before I saw my first dollar and still had to cover my own fuel. Uber just takes 20%
There is no dispatcher to deal with. "hurry up, are you there yet, do you have to use the bathroom?"
There is no man above me. It is me competing with a lot of other drivers for rides. It is anarcho-capatalism at its purest. I think I have a little edge because of my years of driving experience. 😁
I set my hours. If I want a break, I take one. If I want to work, I work. Anarchy
It is cashless. You don't have to worry about getting robbed so much. You can get cash tips from time to time, but you don't have the bulk of your days pay in your pocket. Your money shows up in your bank account once a week.
So, I am off to a pretty good start diving my little Uber-mobile. Loving the anarchy, and my riders so far like me. I have 8 5star ratings and a great comment and I have only had 12 trips so far.

So, if you need a little extra money, or a way to make money and you currently work for douchbags, give Uber a try.
I drove for Uber for a little while. My only complaint is that you don't know where you're going to take the rider until they get in the car. So you could pick someone up close to your home and drive them to somewhere an hour away, which is fine. The problem is that the next ride you pick up could take you another hour away. They should implement a feature that filters ride requests based off of destination radius or be able to tell the app which direction you want to head in.

I think you're confusing freedom and freelancing with anarchy, there :)
Anarchy means without rulers. No one rules my Uber car or makes me pay for permission to operate it, therefore, anarchy. Yes there are rules attached, but for the most part, I can do what I want and only if I have bad service can the company step in my way.
Anarchy is the lack of rules, not rulers. Even though you are your own boss, you still have to adhere to Uber rules. If you manage to break every rule Uber made you adhere to by signing their agreement, then you can call yourself an anarchist.

thanks for sharing this. I see this as an interesting option but is weary of them because it would be a long term solution since even Uber is looking into driverless option.
I think it will be several years before driverless cars are possible. They can't even get navigation perfect right now. And have you seen windows? They haven't been able to get it right for most of my adult life. It gets better and worse at the same time. Unless they are hiding some wonderful technology that no one knows about, I don't think we have to worry about the ai taking over anytime soon.
