Coin Interview with EOS as the focus featuring Dan Larimer [Live Stream JUST Ended]

@ash beat me to the punch on this, linking to the livestream before it started, so if you're going to upvote this, consider giving that vote to them instead! Link to their post --> https://steemit.com/eos/@ash/soon-coin-interview-with-eos Gotta give credit where it is due.

So "Coin Interview," just finished up an interesting live interview with Dan Larimer ( @dantheman ) about EOS. It just ended and was a pretty good watch! So if you're interested in EOS, watch this for the latest chatter.

Enjoy and share it around!

I can feel the hopes and dreams fade as well as the fear exude from the voices and ideas of some of the people on the opposing side in this interview.

Gotta feel sorry for people who choose to ignore the evolution of technology and ideas as they search for confirmation of their own, despite them being, at that point in time, antiquated. Once EOS launches, if it's true to its ideas and game-plan, is a silver bullet, a stake in the heart, of Ethereum. Take it or leave it, that's just how it is. Not knocking Ethereum, just saying something new is here, something that does what it does much better, more efficiently, in a more robust manner, that features many new things. It's technology, it evolves and gets better with time. EOS is a PRIME example.

Dan during the interview:

Opposing side of the interview? Hopes and dreams fading? What are you talking about. I saw none of that. I would have drilled Dan much harder than these interviewers did.
EOS is no silver bullet - it has a earned place in the blockchain industry but it is not the 'one stop shop' that all these proponents are bragging about today. EOS and Ethereum will coexist; they both have different markets, they make different tradeoffs.

Opposing side of the interview? Hopes and dreams fading? What are you talking about. I saw none of that.

I did.

I definitely picked up on some people with obvious vested interest in Ethereum and could sense they kind of wasn't buying what EOS is about or simply refused to accept it. People do this, especially when it threatens to alter their way of life, it's defense. Not outright, of course, but it's about the undertone that counts. I like to not write like a robot, I enjoy having a bit of personality to what I have to say.

And what're you talking about? Can you please elaborate on how Ethereum has a single leg up on what EOS sets out to do? What is the tradeoff of EOS VS Ethereum? I know of none. I do, however, see EOS remedying many of the issues that ETH has today. You might want to ready into EOS a bit more. It easy to speak in vague terms, I'm interested in your thoughts in terms of specifics.

If you'd drill Dan harder, you're more than welcome to in the EOS chat at http://eos.io/chat/ I'm sure he'd be more than happy to answer your drilling questions. I haven't seen a good question asked go unanswered in there.

What are ya waiting for? I want to see this chatter.

Well I have certainly seen Dan answer most of my questions in the telegram chat and I will be sure to drop him a line to answer any more that come up. My point was the interviewers could have pushed dan harder around some of their 'criticisms' (if you could even call them that) of the project. Dan did a great job answering in the interview.

The interviewers are vested in other projects. They were critical of several of the aspects (mainly mutability and witness power) of EOS. This is okay. There is a strong need for criticism in this space. Those who listen and address will be those who are successful.

I will be discussing the tradeoffs in much more detail in a separate post. It mostly boils down to the differences and tradeoffs regarding DPOS consensus. This is where many of interviewers showed their 'unease' - DPOS does have a different approach to mutability and consensus than a 'traditional' blockchain. EOS 'solves' some of the problems with ETH, rather EOS does some things better than Ethereum and is better suited to some applications. I believe some users want access to the different trust landscape offered by ETH.

I believe in a polychain future - there is a place for EOS, there is a place for ETH. Both offer different landscapes for developers to build their apps. It will be interesting to see where different types of development centers. ETH already has a lot of focus with many 'big names' with regard to EEA. Looking forward to development diversification onto other worthy chains.

well changing ones mind is very hard thing to do so I'm not surprised "ETH is better" will prevail for a while...

What is the best way to study what EOS is about?

Do you have some good sources to look in to?

"a silver bullet, a stake in the heart, of Ethereum"

That is a bold statement!

I would be interested in learning more...

Bold, yes. But I'd take that bet to the bank. If the technological fundamentals of EOS are real (I have NO doubts that they are) then the information is right there for the taking. But you first have to understand ETH, its applications, why people use it, and how it works. It's plain as day.

Thanks for the reply!

I am an Ethereum fan, but certainly curious about EOS.

The EOS proposal seems to be aware of the problems to be solved with smart contracts. I am curious to see what their proposed solution is.

Is there any other good source next to following the EOS chat?

Right now I would say not enough is known about EOS to be making the sorts of statements Matt makes. I'm certainly exited about EOS but more interested in a future with many blockchains.

Their mailing list and chat is about all we got. Dan has outlined a bit more of how exactly their applications can recover from issues and essentially it boils down to DPOS validator power.

Thanks for the reply!

I guess time will tell if EOS can become an important player in the smart contract world.

Exciting times ahead!

Yep :P

Getting REALLY excited about this! Dan is on a roll with his past and current projects and I want ride in the same vehicle... To the moon!

He's totally playing the tortoise and the hare game. And we obviously know which character he's starring as. Dude is a legend, a genius, and a hero to mankind. Not kissing ass, just being real. The guy's contribution to humanity and this space is unreal.

I have spent too many hours listening to him on Youtube aside from reading his work and am also very impressed!

The guy's on a mission, and that mission is getting its ass handed to it haha.

Nice !
thumbs up steem with akkha.jpg

Watching and learning!

Interesting stuff!

Thank you for posting this, nice to stay up to date on EOS
