Steemit Live Reporting: The new Trend.
While we wait for a decentralized SteemTube to be developed users are embedding their YouTube videos.Pictures from all sorts of websites, and documenting their current events. @deanliu documented a typhoon that just hit Taiwan with just some pictures and commentary. It felt like I was really there. The media has a tendancy to exploit what little news they don't create themselves but seeing from the eyes of somebody right there living it is unique to Steemit. Reading tweets is one thing but here we are incentivized to do more than that. I know where people go to watch real news , I'll list them. LiveLeak, Twitter, Periscope. Soon Steemit will be on that list because while uploading pictures is slightly tedious you can be paid for your work.

yes a great potential here for real independent world news sharing, but will this be allowed to continue if somebody upstairs decides this does not suit them ?Please check out my post which talks on this very point !!

regards to you upvoted your post @matrixdeweller !
can you say "net neutrality"?
Steemit can not be governed inherently. It is a blockchain. Unless they plan on going house to house and executing people for running software. What are they going to do put us all in FEMA camps because we shared a picture of a cartoon character we don't own.
We'll see. The mechanisms to gray out / hide unimportant content are in place, so it is not like they cannot be used for the enforcement of some laws. But what gets merkle treeed to blockchain stays on blockchain. Anyone can prove the illegal content existed, and if it didn't, it shows many weak spots in the actual system.
If these type of posts receive upvotes and payouts I can see more and more posts like this. Steemit is a creative place and authors will try out all types of postings. At the end it is a small population that will decide if it is value to the community or not. I would say Steemit is a test bed for paid media.

Hah! Isn't THAT the truth?
I wonder if more and more people are realizing that?
I wonder if that might have something to do with their ratings decline?
