the origin of the Singing Barkhan

Barhan was formed as a result of blowing sand from the shoals of the Ili River. A strong wind blows in this part of the valley of the Ili River (between the Kalkans and the Boguty and Syugat mountains), which raises clouds of sand dust from the river banks.

At the Big and Small Kalkans, standing at a slight angle to each other, the wind meets an obstacle and, having weakened, leaves sand.
So, for many millennia, a huge sandy mountain has grown.

Barkhan does not roam the plain, despite the fragility of sand and strong winds, but remains in place for several millennia.
