SPAR vegan department - my choice for CRUELTY-FREE TUESDAY
Since the part of Innsbruck where I work is full of offices, the surrounding shops have adopted the sortiment accordingly. Basic shop like Spar is actually half full of various pre-cooked foods, microwave-ready packages and many many salads. They also have vegan part of the shop.
CFT - Cruelty Free Tuesday
With my latest experiments with various diet changes and hacks (fasting, enema, lowering animal products) came also the idea for this. Especially because my colleagues named Tuesday "McDay"..means they go to McDonalds. I never joined them as I totally despise McDonalds. Soo instead, I've decided to counter their disgusting burgers with some nice and environment friendly meals. Here's my today's choice:
Vegan department in Spar
I'm not gonna lie, these things are expensive AF. No idea why. The package of falafel was for 2 Euros each. Cooked lentils "salad" was for 3 euros. Versions with meat were cheaper. Chicken pieces are for 1.5 Euro and chicken salad is for 2 euros. Why the hell is plant-based food more expensive than meat? I'm not gonna lie - I would usually take the meat option if it's not a weekend (I do meat-free weekends). So I realized this price difference just now. Why's that??
Plastic, plastic, plastic...
Also, there's still no plastic bin in our office, soo I'm taking these plastic containers home with me :) Al all plastic bottles from my whole team :D

I love falafel and have been a veggie for most of my life. God choices with that nice looking lentil salad and falafel have tones of protein in from the chick peas.
Ha ha, and eat muck 😉
Exactly :D How did you become a veggie...were your parents as well?
It's a long story... but for the short version, no my mum wasn't vegetarian but I was super interested in conservation and animals as a young child. Me and my friend used to make stuff to sell and give the money to the world wide fund for nature, we were really serious about it. When I was about 6 years old I told my mother (never knew my dad) that I didn't want to eat meat anymore and she said that it was fine.
My mum is an old hippie who grew up in the 60's so she didn't try and fight me on it. Lol, I still remember my gran trying to sneak meat onto my plate though when I went to visit.
Hahaha maan, my grannie does the same to my sister :D sneaking meat into everything possible and lying about it despite you can smell the meat from miles away :DD

Great, I have upvoted the vegan element. Vegan or vegetarian is the way to go for the educated, informed, intelligent, conscious, conscientious, considerate, evolved, mature individual on the planet today.
Meat is murder, it is unsustainable, it is toxic, it is cruel to warm-blooded creatures with feelings. Give up being cruel and supporting violent abuse and also help to keep the forests by giving up meat. forests are destroyed in huge swathes simply to grow plants to feed the animals being lined up for slaughter for meat. It is unsustainable and harmful to the planet.
Eating meat is a no win game.
I became a veggy back in the early 80s and found it great, the food was really good for me...
Hah I'm not a veggie tho....still just trying :D

oh man I wish I had seen this post earlier! Will still include it in the Vegans of Steemit newsletter! It's so cool that you are buying the vegan alternatives! No idea why they are so expensive though...for me it's the opposite. Here meat is more expensive, so by eating vegan I actually save money. I'm sure in the future it will be the same in Europe, once demand increases, prices will tumble. At least I hope so =) So glad you're doing this (and yes, fuck McDonalds)
