K.I.S.S. Keep it Simple Sweater
It might have been 10 years ago when I saw some Pronto Print Berroco yarn on the internet. I was working full time and was not sure I would be able to put it to good use right away but I still thought buying it was a good idea. The fiber content of 50% cotton and 50% acrylic and the color Cobble Hill appealed to me.
Needless to say, that yarn has sat for years on a shelf in my sewing studio just waiting for me to pick a pattern and transform it into something comfy and practical. I finally pulled out my knitting needles and got busy.
I chose a top down pattern. I liked it because pattern and the color of the yarn reminded me of a comfortable sweatshirt. It was relatively simple and that was a must because it has been awhile since I have knitted a sweater. Well, as simple as the sweater pattern was I did my best to make it difficult. Since I can wear a medium in some clothes I thought it best to make a medium sized sweater. After all, why take measurements because I wanted a slightly looser fit.
I completed the sweater to the point where I could actually try it on for a fit test, this was about the halfway point. It was so huge I think it could have fit a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Tearing the sweater out and starting over was humbling to say the least. After taking the necessary measurements I was amazed to find that I should have knitted an extra small. I wasted so much time, but is was a lesson learned that I will not soon forget.
My advice to anyone who has not knit in awhile and has a sweater pattern in mind: Measure twice, knit once!
I hope you like my sweater, I know I do especially because I can throw it into the dryer after washing it!
It looks really warm and comfortable.
It was a fun project for sure.
Funny story @marymg2014 (I think that I can figure out the marymg part but the 2014? Was it a good year?) I like the measure twice knit once saying!
I'll watch for your next post!

2014 was the year I became a Master Gardener. BTW I love your "The Old Dog" tag.
I have not picked up my knitting needles and AGES - and certainly never attempted a sweater. Scarves. I make scarves and blankets. I'm good at squares and looooong rectangles. LOL
I do love that sweater though! I miss sweaters but in Florida, there are really only a few days where it's cool enough for socks! :D
