The saltiest sea

in #nature8 years ago

The saltiest sea in the world is the Red sea. One liter of water in this sea contains forty-one grams of salts. For comparison, the waters of the oceans contain thirty-four grams of salts per liter, in a liter of black sea water about eighteen grams of salts, and the most fresh sea — the Baltic sea contains only five grams.

The question arises-why the Red sea is the saltiest sea on earth and where in it so much salt?

It's simple. The fact is that the warm waters of the red sea evaporate strongly, as a result of which it has acquired such salinity. At the same time, with strong evaporation, no river flows into the Red sea, which creates a constant shortage of water balance.
