The deepest cave
It was named (in honor of Russian geographer Alexander kruber) and opened by kruber-Voronya in 1960 by Georgian speleologists. The first studies were completed at a depth of 95 m. Secondary studies were conducted by Krasnoyarsk speleologists, to a depth of 210 m.
At the time, the cave of the forgotten and remembered only in 1982-1987 Ukrainian researchers reached a depth of 340 m. But due to the outbreak of the Georgian-Abkhazian war, her research is stopped. Resumed only in 1999, during the one expedition to Kiev reached a depth of 700 m. In 2000, the same team reached a depth of 1410 meters.
The deepest cave Krubera-Voronya was considered after studies conducted by the Ukrainian Speleological Association (with the participation of the Moscow cavers) in 2001, Then was a world record, the explorers reached a depth of 1710 m.
The current record of 2191 m was set in August 2007, and it belongs to the speleologist Gennady Samohin belonging to the same Speleological Association of the expedition which gave the cave Kruber-crow's title — the deepest cave in the world.
