The Cat Who Loves To Babysit

in #life9 years ago

I swear my daughter's first words are going to be kitty cat. She can't talk yet but she's already verbalizing "ki" "ca." I keep saying "mama" over and over hoping to receive the victory of being her first coherent word but I think our five cats are going to steal my thunder.

My 11 Month Daughter Loves The Cats!

Snowman is the only one who really seems to enjoy her. She can crawl all over him and he just lays there. In the early days I was so afraid he might scratch her but over time I've relaxed and trust he won't hurt her. She goes after the cats hard some days chasing them all over the house. Four out of the five run away and hide. They are use to her and know they can easily escape jumping up on the couch or on a table.

Snowman Is Her Buddy

Snowman was once owned by a little boy. He had a nice home and loved his kid. They were poor though and the boy's mom couldn't afford rent. She took the little boy and they moved in with a relative in another town. The mom, instead of finding Snowman a home, left him behind at their old rental home. He wandered the streets around my mom's neighborhood for five years before my husband and I decided to give him a home.

When we had a baby I think Snowman was very happy and curious. While all the other cats had never seen a baby, Snowman seemed to know what she was. I think he is happy having a new child companion.

My Daughter At Five Months

He's the only cat that will lay down near her and is often found sleeping in her play area or her crib. Snowman is a huge cat and often lazy. When she's playing around him he sometimes gets energetic and starts running around batting at her toy blocks. He'll grab her stuffed animals in his front paws and kick them with his back paws. I worry he might accidentally scratch the baby so I go and sit with her while they play to keep her safe.

His favorite place to sleep is her little playhouse. He sleeps in there most nights. In the morning I'll put her on the floor of the living room and she'll eventually discover him in there and will join him. He'll lay there for a bit while she plays with the buttons and practice standing. If she gets rough with him he will leave and go to another room.

He's such a good babysitter and I'm happy he has a new child to play with.

Do you have animal babysitters?

I'll teach her to bark instead 😁

Nooo!! She needs to learn "mama." I have been indoctrinating her since birth to say mama. No animals are going to steal my thunder!

Hahahaha... you go girl! I will wait until after she says momma to teach her to bark then 😉😁

They are already best friends!💗

Yes they are. Very good friends I hope.

I always want my son's first word to be mama but it never happened. We used to visit my brothers farm a lot. My son's first word ended up being "cow".

I think you're right - he's very happy to have a new child to claim. Those pics are definitely keepers!

Awhh cute pictures!! BFFs <3

I'm smiling uncontrollably after reading this story...

So happy for both your daughter and for Snowman! It sounds as if he is well repaying your kindness in adopting him. ;)
