My Toddler Is Naturally A Center Eater Kind of Person

in #humor6 years ago (edited)

When I met my husband an interesting thing began to happen whenever I bought Oreo cookies....I'd open up the pack to find the cookies with no cream in the middle. Where did the cream center go? My dastardly husband would take an Oreo, scrape out the cream center, eat it, then put the cookie part back in the package. I quickly learned he only liked the cream filling and not the cookies. Weird and a bit annoying, all I can say is at least he didn't lick the center out and put it back in the package.

My husband was so excited when these came out...

My daughter, Little Rabbit, had her very first Oreo cookie a few months ago. I had gotten a bag of mini Oreos. They are bite size so they are small and perfect for tiny hands. I gave her an Oreo and at first taste she said "Yum" with a big smile on her face. It was love at first bite.

I myself prefer eating Oreos in the way that was advertised as a child. Dip the cookie in milk and take a bite (cream and cookie together). Recently, I was really up for an Oreo so I got a package of normal sized cookies and hid them as soon as I got home. Mama ain't sharing with a husband who steals all the cream. Of course, smart little 2 year olds will not be deterred and Little Rabbit found my stash. She walked into the living room all proud of herself with a handful of Oreos and I realized she'd been snooping in where I hide my junk food.

I sat there and watch her eat a full sized Oreo. She twisted the cookies so the sandwich came apart. Then, SHE ATE THE MIDDLE AND DISCARDED THE COOKIES!

Now, every time she gets an Oreo she only eats the cream and tosses aside the cookies. My husband said he didn't teach her this. I think it's just her natural preference to like the cream and not the cookies. Like father like daughter. The only downside is Little Rabbit actually licks and bites the cream off leaving a wet and soggy cookie behind that I have no intention of eating. At least with my husband's scraped off cookies I can still dunk them in milk and enjoy them.

I really hated the limited edition Most Stuf Oreos. Too much cream!

For the period we had Oreos around the house, Little Rabbit would use her climbing skills to steal the package off the kitchen counters or she'd find ways to climb over the baby gate to get to my secret stash spot. She really loved those things.

It was adorable, when it was time for her to take her daily nap (2:00 pm) Little Rabbit got in a habit of running to grab and Oreo from my stash, would climb into bed holding the Oreo, then she'd fall asleep with it in her hand. Once she was asleep I'd take it away. The days she did this she never tried to eat the cookie. She just wanted to have it while cuddling in bed with me while she fell asleep. I don't why. She's two. I assume having the cookie just made her happy and as she fell asleep she was comfy and happy holding it?? I don't know. I don't always understand two year old logic. It was a short period of getting her down for naps easily.

Little Rabbit is such a fun kid. Most of the time she is a picky eater and eats like a vegetarian. She loves vegetables and fruits above anything. She'd rather eat fruit than mac and cheese or chicken nuggets which is fine by me. She really doesn't eat a lot of junk food so I was cool with her enjoying a few Oreo creams here and there. Its the first junk food she's actually taken to and she enjoyed them in such an innocent and adorable way.

Love it also, but eat it the 'normal' way

I looooooove cookies and also Oreos a lot but I have never just eaten the inside. I like little Rabbits style haha no mountain too high, no ocean too deep to get to an Oreo....

Lol. She is a smart one. I think as she gets older she'll be very intelligent. She's starting to learn about door locks now and trying to escape the house. Looks like a second set of locks higher up is in our near future.
