The breathtaking Iguazú Falls

Igazú in Guaraní, which is an indigenous language of South America, means „big water“ and is the name of the largest waterfalls system in the world located at the Argentinian Brazilian border.

The Iguazú Falls are an incredible jewel of Nature. From the Brazilian side you can admire the beautiful postcard view as in the picture above.

I visited them last weekend traveling alone and some kind tourists shot this picture of me. The impression of pure nature and loneliness from my photos might be more idyllic than it really was. It was actually quite hard to take a pic without having ten other tourists on it 😊

And here my 3 ultimate tips if you are planning to travel to the Iguazú Falls:

✶ be prepared that there are many, many tourists around. Most of the guided tours visit the Brazilian side in the morning and on the Argentinian side they do the following order: Garganta del Diablo, Circuito Superior and Circuito Inferior or the adventure boat ride. If you want to avoid tourist masses, visit the Brazilian side in the afternoon and explore the Argentinian side in the opposite order.

✶ bring a waterproof cover for your backpack and a waterproof bag for your camera as you will definitely get wet.

✶ I can highly recommend it as great location for solo travel. I stayed three nights at the center of the Argentinian village “Puerto Iguazú“. Talking to other female solo travelers who also stayed in the Brazilian village “Foz do Igaçu“ it seems that the Argentinian side is safer.
