Exploring a Lighthouse and ABANDONED CHURCH at sunset in Wales!

So today was one of those normal days, planning to go on a small walk, in the park, nothing too exciting….. but the events took an interesting turn!
I saw this hill…. And low and behold my curiosity struck when I saw a lighthouse structure on top of it…. I looked, and told myself ‘’Okay, Marta…. Stick to the plan…. Just a calm walk…. A calm waaaa…’’- and that was it. I headed to the hill, to see whether it’s accessible.

It was! There was a path leading up to the light house building, so, I went….
The walk was reasonably short, it took me about 40 minutes to walk up, but that being said, I did get distracted frequently and often found myself staring at the plants or admiring views… and of course taking photos…. This is why I’m late everywhere- ALL the time! Ha

I managed to make it to the top…. And was disappointed…. For the mighty light house structure, was in fact not a lighthouse but a monument….. I got tricked…
I did however feel better, when a small girl climbed up and ran over to it… she asked her mom ‘’Where is the door?’’ and then the mom said ‘’There isn’t one’’, so the girls response was ‘’Ohhh….It must be a magic door!’’. That made me laugh a little, such a sweet thing to witness!

(Cheeky selfie, with sunset and birds...look at them birds!)

I must say, the views from up there were pretty amazing, and I definitely chose the right time to explore this place, it was a sunset and everything started turning into beautiful colors and delicate hues of gold and pink…. I sat there admiring the views for a while before deciding to head back before it gets too dark!

I managed to calm my curiosity but soon enough I was struck by it again, as walking down I noticed an abandoned building in a midst of suburbs…. So, here I was rushing down, to find out what that building was…..

I managed to get to it, and as the gate surrounding it was slightly broken, I squeezed through and managed to find out what it was….. a church!

The structure was quite unusual, and very artistic, such a shame I didn’t manage to see it while it was still operating!
The place was very interesting, but sadly the inside was completely cut off. Normally, when exploring abandoned buildings, I manage to find some type of holes, or cracks that I can squeeze through to explore the inside, but no luck this time, the place was completely barricaded.

It was still amazing to see it, especially since I had no idea it was there!
So, to end this spontaneous day, when it got too dark, I started heading back home.
On a way back, I’ve managed to snap some amazing shots of the night sky. It was absolutely freezing and windy outside but there I was, with my camera placed on top of a car, because once again, I forgot my tripod….

It was so cold. In the time space of me pressing a shutter button, my fingers felt like they were about to fall off…. But ohhhhh it was so worth it!
To sum up, the day turned out absolutely different than expected…. And I couldn’t be happier!

Hope you enjoyed this post,
Cheers,
Marta x
