Portrait painting
Usually I try to paint a portrait keeping it same as the reference photo. So i thought of trying something new. I wanted to add extra things and see if i could blend these new things with the portrait.
A few days ago i was watching a music video on youtube, the music was amazing and the person who was playing the music was dressed very differently. With weird head stuffs and weird cloths. He surprisingly looked amazing.
I wanted to try some of those kind of head stuff on this new portrait.
Since i didn't actually have any particular image i just went with whatever i could remember. I don't know exactly how good this came out but i am hoping that this looks good enough.
I also added some tattoo looking scribble on the neck. In the reference image they were on the head. They don't exactly match the reference either.
Used Reference Image for head structure and light settings.
Here are some process shots and descriptions:
I started with a little bit of bigger in size brush and sketched out the portrait layout. May be i should have taken a little more time to think about the head stuff, then i could have come up with something better.
Anyway, then i took a new layer and reduced the size of the brush and started detail sketch.
After i took a new layer and painted with base color. Then i took a new layer with layer masking and started to shade the face.
The other day when i painted the female portrait, i took a very lighter color by mistake. I didn't wanted to do that today. So started with a very darker color than the skin probably should be. Used some brush modes such as overlay and soft light and multiply to get better colors.
I kept shading ant at the end added that masky thing on the eyes.
Enjoy.
