Sarasota Jungle Gardens in Florida, USA
My wife and I took a drive to Sarasota Jungle Gardens during our time visiting her mother in Florida. To be honest, it was a lot more like a petting zoo or something than we'd imagined and mostly meant for kids. It was still a good time, though.
Here are some little alligators in a pool.
This isn't cool. Or maybe it is. I don't know.
These birds are out in the open, and there is staff there to let you interact with them a little bit. There was a line, and it was all kids, so we didn't do that.
It really was quite a nice place to walk around.
This mute swan had a pond all to their self.
Here's a pelican just taking a stroll along the shore.
All in all, it was fun, but I probably won't go back. I'm not a super huge fan of animals in captivity, even if I'm no longer vegan. ha. It doesn't mean I hate animals all of a sudden. I mostly just felt bad for these animals, but apparently many of them were rescued, though I'm not sure from what.
I love places like this. I used to go to Gatorland in Orlando all the time. I grew up on a natural spring north of Orlando. We use to play with gators of that size all the time. They're fun. Now that I'm older I realize that we shouldn't have done that because they got used to humans. They used to pull them out of the spring when they approached 6 ft because they were assumed dangerous. The only danger was during mating season.
Very nice and similar to a park I visited in Davao Philippines last year.
wow beautiful image
Those baby gators look hungry. Did u get to feed ‘em? Was the weather muggy? The one and only time I went to Florida was in August and the weather was so hot and humid that it was like a Tyson punch when I got off the plane.
I don't think you could feed the alligators. Some of the other animals could be fed, but you'd just buy some feed out of a little machine. I'm not sure what they would have a person feed to an alligator. They don't like those food pellets, I'm sure.
It's very very hot down here right now, but it's okay. I like the heat.
