Decompartmentalized
I took the pieces off the shelf
I sat and reinvented self
From all the different things I'd been
I put one whole me back again
No more this life, no more that
I am but one life, wear one hat
I am just me, just so you know
I'll still be me, wherever I go
Yes, I would say that to your face
And I would stand up in that place
And I would be the same my dear
Without a doubt, no sign of fear
If I'm not me throughout my life
It brings me too much stress and strife
There is one me, no me for you
And you and you and you I'm through
No need to compartmentalize
I'll see myself through my own eyes

Thanks, I'll take a look. Glad my piece motivated you.
I didn't know you write poetry too... deep meaning with a smooth rhyme. Would you be interested to join our #poetsunited group? We write poetry and critique and support each other to write quality poetry and prose.
Well, I've kind of got my hands full. so, yes, but I'll have to wait a few days to contribute anything. I started life as an actor and playwright. Poetry was actually easy for me in school. I just do it for fun now, mostly free verse, but I've also composed two musicals.
