No more.

The scenery has changed quickly.

This field, too, is completely free of snow. The warm weather will continue for a few days. I noticed the ice on the small lakes is disappearing fast. When I took the long exposures at Lake Vesijärvi yesterday, I couldn't see how much of the lake was free of ice. It most likely was close to the shore because I could see reflections of some lights and because it hasn't rained for at least a week.

Pussy willows are now green and large like this. We'll probably see leaves growing on trees very rapidly in the next few days.

Siinä on kuitenkin joku mahtava oikopolku mikä säästää matka-aikaa ainakin tunnin. :)

Most of the places on Monday we went were free of snow, Homer had a snow shower on Sunday so they had some snow on their green lawns, we live about 60 miles north of Homer and still have snow on the ground in our neighborhood, (we live among the trees in the mostly shady area). Still some piles here and there around town, but 90 percent snow free, and today we noticed the surrounding lakes were also snow and ice free. They were still frozen on Sunday. But the winds have started, and the temperatures have moved back into the upper 30's Fahrenheit, (2-4 C range). But some of the leaf buds are opening, so finally spring time in Alaska also.

So Homer is a small town in Alaska? In the south of the state? It has been about 20 C here for the last couple of days. It's not quite unseasonably warm but pretty much at the warm end of the usual range.

Homer is on the Kenai Peninsula, and is a small town yes, but a big tourist spot, home of the "Salty Dog Saloon" where the captains and crew of the Discovery Channel "Deadliest Catch" sometimes hang out. There are some nice mountains to see down there, and a lot of scenic picture taking spots available. And if a person likes Halibut fishing, (I tried it once when I was younger) Homer is the place to go. Lots and lots of big Halibut fishing down there.

Amazing contrast! It looks do strange!
