Pyhätön, Lahti
This morning I took some photos in the district of Pyhätön, Lahti. Pyhätön is an old residential district in the immediate vicinity of the city center to the east of it. The first homes were built in the 1920's. Today, the area is a mixture of old and brand new. Its name literally means "Without Sunday" the origin of which is how its original builders would use all their free time building their homes. It is located on a hill and from the west side the views over the city center are quite nice. I wouldn't mind living in an area like this. In a quiet but central location. My wife and I couldn't probably afford anything new and spacious enough in an area like this if we were still living in Tampere.
Pyhätön is the area encircled by the red line.
Below are some photos I took this morning.
An uphill climb along Supankatu entering the area.
Early 1980's.
1970's.
2000's.
1930's.
1930's functionalism.
Here's what's listed on the market. You'll get an idea of the price level.
