Achievement 3 by @marita-mbamara Task: Content Etiquette
Hello steemians,
Imagine going through a work online and you come across your a work written by you but you were not acknowledged for it. How would you feel? Sad? Mad? Angry?. I bet all emotions. Now, imagine how the owner of a research used by you in your work feels when you do not cite your source or reference the author. This term is referred to as Plagiarism.

According to Cambridge English Dictionary, plagiarism is the process or practice of using another person’s ideas or work and pretending that it is your own. “Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_integrity. The following below are the different types of plagiarism;
Global plagiarism- This involves one person presenting an entire text by someone else as one’s own work.
Paraphrasing plagiarism- This is when one rephrased someone else’s ideas without citation.
Verbatim plagiarism- This involves directly copying a text without citation.
Self plagiarism- This involves reusing ideas from one’s own previously submitted work.
Mosaic plagiarism- This involves the combination of text and ideas from different sources without citation.

The following below are ways I can avoid plagiarism;
- Being creative with my ideas

Writing my achievement 3 task has given me an adage advantage in knowing how to avoid plagiarism. I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and I will do my best in applying them as I go further in my content writings.
I would like to use this opportunity to thank @cryptokannon, @steemalive for this great opportunity. Thanks for reading my achievement 3 post.
