Maybe death is misunderstood. Maybe death is the ultimate release of the living spark from the body and into the boundless universe - maybe even multiverses.

I was surprised to see a Bowie song, not many Greeks like him. They say he is not widely popular, but those who have a feel for good music love him.

As for only human beings knowing about death, I think it is a fallacy, same as the one where we believed that the sun and universe revolve around us.
Survival demands we fear - even a cockroach desperately runs to hide when it senses us. Without fear, how long would any specie survive?
How can there be fear if death is an unknown?
For a few years, I was head of an animal protection group in Cyprus. When dogs were found that could not be saved, I would be the one who had to hold them while they are injected. None ever tried to bite me, all they did is stare into my eyes. Maybe they were wishing their soul could leave their body and come to live in mine, for I must have, from their point of view had all the blessings they can barely dream of. Whatever their wishes, there was fear and there was knowledge as they fell asleep, that they are dying.
We mistreat them so, that they go against their own instincts and need to survive and sadly but gently accept the death we offer them.

Oh my, you just brought up the most debatable topic in human kind's history !!
We hold no proof for anything!!! I mean even Socrates said the "he knew nothing", imagine!!! The wisest man to ever roam the earth!!!
I would just say that we are guided by faith! What we believe is what we create and therefore happens!
So those loved ones that left us, I am sure there somewhere watching over us and one day we'll see them again ☺!!!
