The wooden wing

in #architecture6 years ago

The wooden wing is a large second home built on the shores of Lake Superior in the Laurentians by the YH2 architects.
The house is here placed on a natural promontory of granite, offering an open and intimate view of the lake and Mont Tremblant facing it.

The living spaces are grouped on a large polished concrete slab slightly raised above the natural plateau, in direct contact with the surrounding nature, only separated from it by walls of clear glass.

Above, a vast veil of white cedar, the wing of wood, overflowing largely of the glass flag, protects from the rays of the sun the spaces of lives and allows the development of covered outdoor spaces, in continuity with the interiors.

Built perpendicular to the wooden wing, a second main building on two levels, almost opaque, includes service areas and bedrooms.

The house plays on the duality openness and opacity, space of night and day.

The use of a limited range of materials: white cedar, polished concrete, black aluminum and clear glass, both inside and outside, breaks the boundaries between architecture and nature.

Beautiful house with views of Mont Tremblant. I particularly like the bathroom, take a bath in the middle in the forest...
