Need Gloves?
It has been over six weeks now since I stepped a foot off my property. I am taking this Covid19 thing seriously and don't want to mingle with people that don't.
I am in a fortunate position to do that because my children will get me things from the store if I need anything. That is mostly cream for my coffee (and if I had to, I could do without. But hey, we need to indulge in our little pleasures.), rubber gloves, and food for the animals.
Being a bit of a prepper, I buy beans, rice, and other grains in 25 or 50 lb bags. It is much cheaper that way and you can eat for a long time off 25 lbs of beans.
Of course, by now you all know, I have a huge garden and I like to eat all kinds of different things that grow in it.
But as you can see in the picture - plants have so many purposes beyond food.
In this case, it is functioning as a glove.
We subscribe to the local newspaper because we feel that we need to support journalism. If that goes away, a lot of checks and balances are gone. And way too many papers have already bitten the dust or have been greatly reduced in their activities.
When CoVid19 started, I put the paper on vacation hold since I really have eliminated things coming into my house and being a possible carrier of the virus.
The paper is available online and for the most part, I get my news somewhere else anyway.
But, as I said, it is important to support the papers no matter what.
Usually, I go out front with gloves on to pick up the mail and the paper. But today, I was out front without gloves.
The big leave of the Nasturtium plant came in very handy to pick it up.
I carried it to the box I am dumping all the papers in and don't touch them again until all of this is over.
As I said, I read the paper online and we are collecting the paper paper to give to one of our friends on the reservation who is using it in the winter to heat her home.
What creative glove substitutes have you come up with?
