Market Friday at the Art Museum
A while ago, I went to Balboa Park in San Diego with my cousin and her family. We walked all over the place and stopped at the free Museums along the way. The Museum of Art has a permanent free Pavillion with different exhibits - and there is a fabulous gift store.
There are books to be had on the way to the bathroom.
And more on this shelf.
As we move on, we get to notebooks and kitchen towels - why they are right next to each other - I don't know...
The towels are very cool though - pieces of art in your kitchen.
And the socks are hard to beat. Hot sox apparently are the hot thing and come in tons of designs and such.
Personally, I like my wool hiking socks. Especially right now when it is getting a bit cold. But if I wanted to go for colorful socks, art socks are a good choice.
If you are ready to spend a little more, let's look at the beautiful jewelry.
Or maybe you like earrings better? How about these?
If jewelry is not your thing, a little purse maybe?
And some small clutches or maybe they cigarette cases? Do people still use those?
Signs all over warn the shoplifters that they will not find mercy - and there are cameras all over. Theft is a real problem.
These boxes can hold breath-freshening mint pastilles for the smokers or for anyone who likes to freshen their breath.
When my kids were younger and we were homeschooling, I was always getting books like this.
It is always good to learn more - someday, I will figure out how to draw :)
Maybe these pens and paints would help.
If nothing seemed appealing enough for you to part with your money, how about a scarf? Everyone can always use a scarf, right?
If all fails - there is always the bag as a last resort.

The Museum of Art was awesome! I especially love the fact that the Pavillion is free and they change it up from time to time. I have to admit, the "getting a book on the way to the bathroom" comment really made me laugh out loud. Seriously. Not such a well-placed sign.
The notebooks and kitchen towels were probably a space-saving measure or a young kid put them out there. The Smithsonian Museums have similar tea towels made out of a work of art. I really love that idea, but, I have never been able to use them, so I give them as gifts. Who could use something so pretty? Oh, yes!! Those socks were hot! But, I prefer my woolen socks in the winter and bare feet in the summer. I always wonder who would buy jewelry in a place like this as it always seems so overpriced to me, and yet, there they are, lined up and ready to pay. Shows you how much I know.
Of all the things, I will take almost any book. I homeschooled too and we have this thing about books... and the little mint boxes! So nice! Thank you so much for taking us here! It was a delightful side trip and I hope we get to come back again! Thank you, Marianne @mariannewest for bringing your wonderful self to #MarketFriday!

I think people buying things in that kind of store want to support the museum. That is what I do (when I have money 🤪) being fully aware that I could get it cheaper somewhere else.
That is true! I usually will buy something useful or something that would make a good gift. That way, I get a twofer.

I love visiting museums. This is a great museum with lots of cool stuff. The boxes with the bunny art is what I like, vintage and classy.
I liked those boxes too. But I am at a point in my life where I don't want to add clutter of any kind - even beautiful clutter LOL
